Best of luck to him. It doesn't get better than playing for a Watervliet HOF player and a player and mentee of George Madigan.

Good for him … I’d expect he’ll shine at this level

Is this a scholarship spot for Mason? If so, great for him. Either way, I wish him the best but wonder how he might have developed if he had waited it out and played a year for Gerry as a walk-on. Winters seemed like another that might have wished he stuck around another year once Gerry came along. They both seem like kids that would have loved playing as walk-ons for Gerry and he would have helped them develop their games. Their blind loyalty to Carm (and likel self-serving advice given by him) to enter the portal immediately and not even see who was named the next coach seems shortsighted for walk-ons.

Good luck to the kid who impressed me when I saw him play against Albany High in the sectionals a few years ago. I regret that he was villified on this board when it was not his fault that four scholarship guards were unable to play. He should do well at DII ? St. Edward's.

GREAT fit for Mason! Happy he landed with Andre, whos one of the best D-2 coaches in the country. He hasnt taken a kid from the 518 in awhile.
D-2's usually get 8-10 full rides. Top 6 kids would get full boats, and you'd divide up the other 3/4 on the rest of the team.
Kid always played hard even though Carm put him in an impossible position to succeed. Was never his fault. Wish him the best.

Classy. I hope he gets an offer somewhere. Agreed, he put up with a lot and he was asked to do to much. Hopefully he lands in a better situation Was he a 17 year old Freshman? I felt he played like a man from Day One and gave his all when healthy. I feel that some refs allowed him to be pummeled this past season. I would have been happy to see him stay as a backup PG. He was an exiting player.

He definitely has talent but he wasn't a standalone talent. If he was playing next to Ronald Moore, Ubiles, etc. he would have been fine...much like Carm himself. If Carm told him to go right into the portal then even Carm knew he wasn't all that he was being asked to be. The more I think about Carm's tenure the more angry I get. This board was brutal on Mason but it wasn't his fault. He's not a bad player but Carm did zippo to put the team in a position to win. Eley is good. Durugordon was good. Emejuru was good. Still we not only couldn't win, we were getting routed. An F! D'Arg for letting this happen. Double F! him for trying to let it happen again next year.

DII St. Edwards is a perfect landing spot for MC. That level matches up with his skill set and talent level. Heading to a good program and excellent coach. And Austin is a great city. Wish him all the best.

Big step up in competition, interested to see how he does. He has the body, athleticism and game to succeed in the AAC, but needs the right mix around him.
