The MAAC Board rumor about Rogers is after the season, he asked Carm how he was going to make him a star. They disagreed. So he left Siena. More specifically, he reportedly requested to be put in a position to be MAAC POY by having Carm focus the offense on him. I can only imagine what response that elicited from Carm. Suffice it to say, I'm sure Colby was reminded that it's a team sport. He probably told him that his chances would be better if he at least tried to play defense and that’s where Colby drew the line and decided to leave!

I heard he didnt like the preferential treatment Gaines received from Carm, and probably assumed it would go on this year too.

If that’s the case and I’m not saying it is; then hats off to Carm for recognizing this and not bringing Gaines back for another season. Looks like he can learn from mistakes; again assuming this supposed issues occurred in the first place. I heard the other story that implied Rogers was about himself and not the team. In any case, Rogers was welcomed to stay but chose to leave. Hope he finds what he was looking for. At least Siena helped him with his road victories category more do than his first college.

I don’t think Carm recognized anything and didn’t bring Gaines back. It was my understanding Carm wants Gaines back but it was Gaines decision not to play and Carm kept him on scholarship in case he changed his mind.

Sorry - Wichita State can suck it. The rules are the rules, and Siena is playing by them. The transfer rules are too loose as they are; no need to circumvent them. It's not like he won't get to play again - just wait a season, fer chrissake.

Interesting tidbit...this was before the free transfer rule. (From the MAAC board)
Remember Don Carey? He wanted to leave from Siena when Carm was hired. Carm said play with me and graduate and I'll let you go.
Don did that- and now he's at Georgetown and Maryland.
If Colby just graduated from Siena, this isn't an issue. Kids gotta think before they do.

Unfortunately we’re the program that’s now in a no win situation. We need to (and should) abide by NCAA rules. Unfortunately in the process we take the hit by arming the recruiting competition with “look what Siena did to Colby”. Sure the reality is that Rogers did this to himself, & Wichita screwed him, not us, but potential recruits won’t see it that way. Again, NCAA needs to fix this bull$hit.

Let me rephrase. I have never seen as many transfers of recruits as Carm has had during his coaching career at Siena. I suppose you could say they all left on their own but I seriously doubt it! JMO

JMO I think you will see as many if not more at many schools these days. This year we really didn't have that many transfers compared to other schools. Check this site. We had 3 - one of whom is Kyle Young who left a year ago. Iona had 4, Marist had 7 this year!! I could go on. www.verbalcommits.com/transfers/2022It's the new normal.

Just to add, WS coach says all other coaches do it (referring to releasing kids under false pretenses). Well just because everyone supposedly does thinks with questionable integrity, does that mean we should too? BTW, this response isn’t directed at you but I wanted to emphasize your point.

Not buying it just because WS coach says it. Which is why I would like the list of all 2nd time transfers.

I don’t buy it either but if there’s even a hint of seriousness in his comment the everyone should remember what their parents/teachers told them growing up. If so and so jumped off a bridge (or told you to) would you? 😂
