Sorry - Wichita State can suck it. The rules are the rules, and Siena is playing by them. The transfer rules are too loose as they are; no need to circumvent them. It's not like he won't get to play again - just wait a season, fer chrissake. Wichita St was smart and bunch of scumbags, they took this public to force the issue and our hand. Unfortunately we’re the program that’s now in a no win situation. We need to (and should) abide by NCAA rules. Unfortunately in the process we take the hit by arming the recruiting competition with “look what Siena did to Colby”. Sure the reality is that Rogers did this to himself, & Wichita screwed him, not us, but potential recruits won’t see it that way. Again, NCAA needs to fix this bull$hit. I have faith in potential recruits and their parents. While some May view it as a negative against Carm I’m sure there are those (especially some parents of recruits) who’ll not want their kids playing for a morally challenged WS coach. This media attention could back fire on WS and make Carm look like the good guy in all this. Remember, it only takes one coach/administration to stand up to NCAA for what’s morally right; then others will follow.

www.timesunion.com/sports/article/Siena-won-t-sign-waiver-to-help-Colby-Rogers-play-17577285.php"They (Wichita State) wanted us to basically say we were not giving (Rogers) an opportunity to participate on our team," D'Argenio said. "We didn't sign that because that's not true. We wanted him back. We explained to him what it means when you go into the transfer portal. So that's why we didn't sign off on it. If he gets a waiver from the NCAA based on some other means, then that's great for him. But we've done our due diligence. We educated the young man to what the transfer portal is and what it means. We wanted him back very clearly. Why would we not want our leading scorer (back)?" "We're sitting here trying to tell our players to be honest, to be accountable, to be responsible," D'Argenio said. "And then I'm going to sign something that's not true and they know it? I don't think it sends a good message. And everybody knows what the rules of the transfer portal are ... People are just signing them, so shame on us as an industry if we're not even following our own rules." I agree.

People want it both ways with no accountability or responsibility for their decisions. I totally back Siena on this issue. These D1 athletes have been blessed with tremendous talent and receive a wonderful education that most of us peasants have to work the rest of our lives to pay off. And they get preferred treatment far beyond what an average student on campus would have or receive. Although they do put in a tremendous amount of time in their sport, they are doing what they love and need to be held accountable. This young man knew what he was doing and should be held to the standard set by the rules and NCAA regulations. Period.

Frankly Wichita state should be opened up to an NCAA violation since they apparently openly admit they lie on their forms. And never mind that "everybody does it". They are admitting to it.

Wichita and Rogers both knew what they were getting into, but I’m sure Wichita told/sold him that getting a waiver through was doable.
Still think WS strong-arming Siena via the press was pretty damn underhanded.

When I wrote about this after he announced he was leaving, I never considered the third option - he has a decent opportunity and is straight up expecting a waiver. I want to see the kid flourish wherever he wants to be, but at the same time, I wish he'd decided to return to Loudonville. Squad would look real nice with him in the starting line-up! This sit-out year was always a very real possibility. lottasaintsinfo.wordpress.com/2022/04/05/rogers-dodger-this-that/

Would have been happy for Colby to get a waiver but there was never any responsibility for Siena to lie. Unfortunately, good chance Wichita coach Isaac Brown gets fired after this year and at that point we might see Colby in the portal yet again…

St Rose had a kid go in today and still has two years.
