I’m no Ratliff fanboy but blaming Ratliff is kind of ridiculous the kid was on the floor less than 2 minutes. Yeah CP ate into the score a little but c’mon. You guys are so myopic the game 40 minutes long. When two of your best four players go a combined 2-12 and can only stay on the floor for 27 min each we aren’t winning. We don’t have that kind of depth. Couple that with piss poor foul shooting, horrible offensive execution, bad defense and a couple questionable coaching moves (substitutions/lack of adjustments). You get a “L I didn’t feel good about this game at the half and though we were in big trouble just based on execution alone. This team has an identity, chemistry and depth issue and an inexperienced head coach finding his way. Team needs to regroup. On a brighter note glad to see Harris breakout last night hope this gives him confidence moving forward! So you don’t think a games outcome can change on one play, or sequence? Sure it CAN. And that sequence played a part. But 2-13 from 2 of our key guys played a bigger part. We’ve got a bigger problem if those 2 mins affected 2 guys with 7+ combined years removed from HS. No doubt we put up a stinker. I defer to my post above to speak my opinions for the team going forward. Hoping some retrospection/motivation and adjustment for the whole team and some home cooking will do them good.

So just to clarify, you are saying, the loss is because of everyone but Jimmy Ratliff? Maybe I didn’t make myself clear. It’s the entire teams fault. Everyone. Not just one or two players fault. One or two players didn’t shoot 27-65. You blame the team for not playing well and you move on from that. Long season still. nyhoops is now my favorite poster! One of the few posters on here showing much common sense instead of plain emotion, backbiting and sarcasm.

No doubt there’s plenty of blame to go around! I just felt like that sequence seemed like the beginning of the end for us. Carm shouldn’t have played him and JR wasn’t ready to play and it showed.

I get you don’t like the kid, if you want to say he shouldn’t be on the team then ok, but if by ‘ready to play’ I have to assume you mean he should have been in a little the first half as you already said that. I don’t necessarily disagree, but first half was tight and Harris was playing well. He came in early in second half (15:50 approx) with a 10 point lead. I would expect ANYBODY in top 8 to be ready to go in the game at anytime. Coach saw pretty quickly he didn’t have it and sat him. Things weren’t too bad then and the top 4 couldn’t stop the bleeding. The issue was with that kid (Ballard?)?who had nothing in first half and went off on us in second. Not sure who covered him most of that half. Guess I just wonder how you would say a player in top 8 is not ready after having only practices (no games) the last 8 days. Based on an 8 day layoff what would make you (unless privy to those practices) think a bench player is ready for any action.? Again, if you just want to say he should never see a minute again, then go with that. We bitch about no o/p from bench, but no chance if they don’t get in. Got to start somewhere.

I thought early last year he offered us more than Sloan, but he got hurt and never seemed to bounce back. With Sloan’s 25 perimeter minutes up for grab, I figured, actually counted on, Jimmy easing the loss of Sloan’s 3 pt shooting. Hasn’t happened................................B) years of experience

Why do you keep saying Ratliff is in the top 8? He’s not. It’s a good bet if Hein never got hurt, he never would have taken his sweats off.

Really.? Follow the program, have been going to games many years before some of you were even a thought. Siena has been dealt some bad hands last 10 years, many of which are their own doing. Seems everyone here was happy with the Carm hire, things go a little south and like most from SmallAlbany want to jump ship. Man is a first year head coach, a competitor, who people think he like loosing. Inherited a young tea, with some great players but overall not the talented group. Give the guy a break. Yes we can give opinions on payers, I do we all do but the kids all want to win, not loose. They all seem to be great kids, but Carm has to run the program to make it better. F it includes, not my statement no renewing scholarships or as some say running the player off so be it. Unfortunate. Everyone needs to step back, Carm realistically needs 3-4 years to prove himself that’s the norm. For those who can’t take it, overdose on some meds or use the Menands bridge, it a game, and btw your not D1 head coach.

Olddave sorry but I like to read posters reactions and reflections to the games. Your post is a bit sanctimonious. Perhaps the posters should contact you with a rough draft before they post their thoughts for your approval and blessing.

I really feel sorry for Ratliff, his confidence is shot. He really needs to see the ball go through the net. He was never the same when he came back from his injury. Too much pressure on himself; I hope he doesn't read this board.

What's the old adage--when your shot's not falling, drive to the basket, get fouled, make some layups. Still applies.
