I believe that scenario is the exact reason why the sit-out rule exists; they wouldn't ever give a waiver for that unless there were some extraordinary circumstances around the situation. Coaches should not be able to drag their recruits with them wherever they go. Had sloan just been a commitment and not have played (a la Walker), no problem. If waivers were that easy to get, Jalen would likely be at GW right now. Lucky for us, that is not the case.

And I know it’s apples and oranges, it just seems a little unfair that coaches can tell the players whatever they want to hear to recruit them and leave at the drop of a hat with no penalties. Just something I just find inconsistent.

In the FWIW category: GW had their D2 exhibition today. Jameer Nelson Jr was their best player on the floor and Shawn Walker played only 4 minutes. They don’t have much depth but he appears to be at the end of their bench. Shawn Walker may end up a good player at GW- but if a blowout win over a d2/d3 team is any indication Shawn won’t be playing much this year. Goes to show you, you never know about freshmen. This thread is interesting reading. Some thought the sky was falling when we lost Walker, time will tell but we may have dodged a bullet I won't go so far as to say we dodged a bullet, as I think Walker will end up being a solid player - JC has a good eye for talent. That being said, I do think Gary Harris is an upgrade. So it worked out better for us in the end.

Walker's issue was always rumored to be shooting consistency. He chose to play for the coach who puts shooting above all else.
Walker has loads of potential because he can play point at his size...but he's gonna have to up his defensive game to overcome any shooting deficiencies he may be having. He's very athletic. He can certainly do this.
I just wouldn't expect JC to give anyone a fair shake until the shooters prove they're costing him the game. 3's or bust with him.
It's ironic that Carm's style might fit him better.

The NCAA would kill mid-major basketball which they want. But Jalen wouldn't be at GW. We might be playing him Friday night at Xavier. Instead he's on our team.

Walker could very well end a good player down the road.. Besides his shooting he is pretty thin, not sure he has a college ready body. He was always far from a “sure” thing. And losing Walker—we gained Harris. My point was you never know how ready a freshmen will be

Walker was a surprising recruit to me for JC since he puts such a premium on shooting. Walker was a very athletic slasher. He’d be a very good MAAC player in a year. I wish we still had him. Not sure why him on the roster would cost us Harris?? Aren’t we still involved Gray who has very similar skill set?

One cardinal rule in recruiting. If you really want a kid, you find away to make it happen. Money gets moved around all the time if staff feels kid is an impact recruit and wants to come.

Were we involved with that kid Dunn that ended up at St John’s?? Clev. St. Transfer? He’s really good. Just watched Vermont beat St John’s behind a monster performance from Lamb, but Dunn really impressed me.

Just watched Vermont beat St John’s behind a monster performance from Lamb, but Dunn really impressed me. here was the deal with Dunn...........he was all set to come to Siena, but he was a high school teammate of Shamori Ponds who convinced him to visit St. John's, which he did the weekend after he visited us..................once there, new coach Anderson offered him immediately and he decided to go there instead...........in fact, he just got cleared by the NCAA to play in todays game, and he missed the first 3 games (they almost were not going to let him play this yr or his first semester which would have been total BS because he sat out all of last yr at Cleve St since he transferred after his first year at St. Francis, Dunn decided to leave Cleve St because the coach that recruited him there was gone.............I tell ya the NCAA is a bunch of idiots with some of these decisions)..................and IF that were not enough, as we know star Lamb of UVM chose being a Catamount instead of Siena, well because of the guy whose name we will not mention (you know the guy that tormented the Unabomber manager)..............
