I don't always agree with what he posts but it's definitely a childish move to chase him away. The boards are meant for people to have their opinions, let him have his I don't disagree but c'mon. He didn't sign off ... didn't just close his browser. He deleted his account. Over some posters disagreeing with his positions. That's the thing with taking contrarian positions, posters are going to disagree with you. kk has never been shy about telling other posters where he thinks they are wrong. Isn’t this an annual occurrence? Seems this happens all the the time ... guess he/she is just the sensitive type. Give it some time and KK will be back.

I was going to joke that I had July 17th in the pool this year, maybe next time I'll get 'em. In all seriousness KK I'm sure you're reading and we look forward to you returning, we all need time off from time to time. In KK's honor... Your comment to upvote ratio needs improvement, but if you can continue to block 30 commenters, steal 15 thread topics and post on 10 different boards per game, we'd be crazy not to want you on the court. That's some Ryan Oliver level production. Sorry for hijacking this thread, Darwiche deserves continued respectful debate about his future with this Siena fam.

The boards are meant for people to have their opinions, let him have his Def one of the top 5 posters out here. Shame to lose him over something as meaningless as that. All the ppc posts and one foreign kid is what does him in? I’m guessing he was just looking to take a break.

Georges Darwiche and the Romanian National team play at 2pm today against the Netherlands in a World Cup Qualifier. A win would virtually clinch qualification for the next round of qualfiying. Game is streamed live on ESPN+, which is $5 a month but you can get a free 7 day trial (just cancel before the 7 days are up and you shouldn’t be charged). Here’s the stats link: www.fiba.basketball/basketballworldcup/2019/european-qualifiers/game/2806/Netherlands-Romania#tab=lbtvI’ll post some sort of recap of how Georges plays after the game.

Willem Brandwijk is playing for the Netherlands team, if that provides any extra motivation to tune in.

Not much to make of this one. Darwiche's Romania team was dominated pretty much from the start by Netherlands, final score 77-52 Netherlands. Georges played 20 minutes and finished with 3 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist along with 3 turnovers (one was not his fault at all).
Romania's offense was horrible all game, so it's hard to differentiate some of the things Darwiche did poorly with the struggles Romania had. Their only offense was straight isolation from whoever was handling the ball or post-ups to their young star big man Emanuel Cate. Darwiche played some as the true point guard and others as the 2 in 2-point guard sets. He did a good job handling the ball against pressure, but played very tentatively (which is fair when you are the youngest and one of the shortest players on the floor). His points were scored off an excellent catch-and-shoot 3, the release was very smooth. When he was the lone point guard, he mostly just dribbled around and was unable to get any offense going, but as I said earlier much of that could be attributed to the lack of offensive flow Romania had, rather than a criticism of Darwiche. When off the ball, he floated around the perimeter looking for jumpers.
Defensively, he competes hard despite being smaller and less mature than the players he was guarding (for example, one of the guys he had to guard was former St Bonaventure point guard Charlon Kloof, who is 28 years old and averaged 12 points and 5 assists in his senior season at Bona). That said, players were able to drive past him which opened up offensive opportunities for Netherlands.
His best stretch of the game came in the second quarter, when he hit the 3, grabbed a big rebound in traffic, and made some nice passes that could have easily wound up being assists. That keyed a little run for Romania and was the best they looked all game.
He also displayed some leadership in the huddles (which were mic-ed up) which I was surprised by given his youth. The team spoke all english in the timeouts, so there shouldn't be issues with language barriers when he comes over to play with us.
Overall, hard to take too much that we didn't already know away from this one. Playing against legit MEN, he struggled to create separation and didn't pop off the screen, but for the most part played composed. I think we'll get a lot more out of watching him play at the U20 European Championships this summer than we will with the senior team, where he's basically a backup guard and spot up shooter. Next game is another World Cup Qualifier against Croatia on Monday.

Yeah, wasn't much I could take away from that except that he would have already been prepared for a Patsos offense since that is pretty much what Romania looked like. Can definitely handle the ball and shoot. He's pretty bad defensively but it isn't from lack of effort and he's extremely aggressive so could net him some steals in the Mayhem defense to offset the times he is going to gamble and get blown by.

This board has several knowledgeable posters that I enjoy and respect, including yourself. I do tend to bond a little more with posters that also participate on the MAAC board. Thanks for the compliment. 👍

Cannot understand why you waste any of your time posting on here. Maybe Tony can arrange a social get-together where can all meet and share a Kumbaya moment, but until then, please just click off.
