Keep something in Mind-- Jimmy seldom recruited ALL MAAC caliber players- and in 14 years only recruited one 1st team ALL Conference player and only a few that made any alll conference team ( in his 4 years at Siena only Wright made 2nd team all conference.)
In contrast in 4 years at the Mount Jamion recruited 1 Poy- two first team all conference players, two second team all conference and 3 third team ALL conference- so not only did Jamion do worlds better the last 4 years--in his short time as head coach Jamion has recruited more all conference players than JP did in 14 years- Sorry odds of Baker being any good are not good-I'll take any Jamion recruit over a JP recruit any day of the week- fact is most of patsos recruits were very limited

I think this call will rank up there with how you told us all how good Jammy Paige was going to be-- stats told you that right?

I don’t usually like to comment on players before I’ve seen them on the floor with a few games under their belt but just based on a few video clips the kid has the tools ... athleticism handle quick release and gets to the rim. Let’s see if he can transition to the US / NCAA game. Might be one of those under the radar kids.

My eyes tell me he's a good get. I think (and hope) KK is off the mark on this kid. Time will tell - assuming he gets through all the qualification red tape.

He was a hope and a dream because we needed a SG but he wasn’t one. I’ll not get into a cat battle with you. I’m not even saying kid is bad. You people interpret it as that. I’m just saying he’s not likely the PG we need to turn the corner and he comes with some risk.

KK - wondering if you watched any of that complete game that was posted. I feel like I'm seeing a very good point guard. Very active in creating for others. My eyes tell me that he is a better point than anyone else on the roster right now. Small sample size, but he looks better than Penn to me, also. Of course, there were a lot of stiffs out there, too.
Maybe not a rebounder and I'm not sure how well he will work defensively in JC's system, but from an offensive standpoint, I see him as a good addition. I wouldn't be shocked if he were our starting PG by January.

My point was more that Garwiche actually looks like he can run a team, not just be an energizer bunny. In fact, if we brought him here to be a Hymes or Turner, we got the wrong guy. He’s good off the bounce but he’s not a complete blow-by guy. The video I linked assuaged some of my concerns about him being a point guard. Am I sold? Not yet. And regarding your point earlier that you need Stars first, no star is around the last week of June. If you think there’s a guy out there who can help your team at this stage in the game, you do it. JC’s will still have 4 scholarships for next year, and I guarantee he wants Adams-Woods, Ings, Gill, or some combination of those 3 to come in and be a star PG. Siena got better today for next season, and they may have gotten better for the future. Who would you rather have? Georges Darwiche or Devon Baker? Georges Darwiche or Roman Penn? I was most impressed with Dinsmore, but according to the 2018 thread we never offered him. No opinion on Darwiche yet, but share some of KK's concerns until I watch some tape.

I have not watched tape, but what I am worried about if the kid will actually play for Siena- hopefully his grades etc will transfer over with no problem.

Any background info on how Darwiche and Siena came together and got on eachothers radar as well as the time frame involved from first awareness to accepting offer?

Like Richard, the Darwiche kid appears to be able to put the ball in the hoop....and like Richard again...from various types of methods (3pt land, mid range pull up and creatively getting to the hoop).
This team needed more guys like Richard last year. Guys who can put the ball in the hoop and have the confidence to shoot it or drive it are always needed.
Like Richard, my concern would not be the amount of assists he produces but rather the amount of turnovers he gives away.
If guys run with him and fill lanes or go to open spots, whether it's him scoring or somebody else scoring through an assist or hockey assist, good things will happen more times than not.
Playing with older guys, I do think he will show a high basketball IQ on Day 1.

You guys are right. I'm wrong. Nothing more to talk about.
I'll just fade into the black for awhile and let you guys enjoy.

You are not wrong with your concerns and assertions. However, JC was never going to get that perfect well rounded player you seek in May and June. At this late date you will take what you can get from so you haven't enough bodies to field a team. Under that lens, JC has done well. Context. You'll get the guys you want in the 2019 class. Be patient.
