Patsos was so bad managing personnel and games it’s hard to tell how good some of the better players on this roster were ... with that being said ... this roster is also lacking athleticism and the level of athlete to dominate the MAAC like Fran did .... there’s a mega amount of work to be done. JC really needs to raise the bar on the level of athlete recruited.

I have to agree, this one hurts, Penn statistically was our best player. I expected him to be back, I thought JC was going to do enough to get it done, but it appears this ship sailed. Hopefully a step back to take 2 steps forward.

Honestly guys, I can tell you from conversations I have had that this had nothing to do with the new coach and everything to do with the past regime (he was already looking mid-season) and MOSTLY to do with how the athletic department handled the dismissal of the disaster of the Patsos experiment. I can't fault any kid when the AD basically said that they had too little talent in open interviews. Hardly a welcome mat for current players to stick around. I think the kids that left made their decisions in January from what I am hearing and the lack of communication with them while the super secret interviews were being conducted by the Siena CIA did nothing to change their minds. Of all of them, I agree this one hurts. I think Roman could have done well under JC but I hope the best for him and his family.

It's too bad it came to this, but I agree that this decision was likely made months ago. It would have taken a Herculean effort by JC to change Penn's mind - and it seems like JC did what he could. Too bad ... Penn would have been a very useful piece in this system.
Best of luck, Roman.

I don't fault JC on this GB, I just believed what he was doing was going to be enough to get Penn back. It sounded very positive. The mess left by the previous regime is still not fully cleaned up yet, I get that. I wish Penn well, I mean that, but as I have read many posters here say, I want guys who want to play for Siena.

It is what it is. I'm over it. Losing any player off an 8 win team is not really a serious blow. That's one more opportunity for JC to bring in guys more suited to his style of play. I only which this was happening in March instead of May. But there are still some good players out there for a variety of reasons. I expect JC will hit the ground running with his new staff when he returns to rebuild this thing and show us how it's done. I'm really excited to see what he does with the 2019 class.

Too bad - Roman was a solid PG. Not sure what his upside was; he was tentative much of the time and didn't display too much playmaking ability in his brief time as a Saint. Take that with a grain of salt since he was playing in a crap system in which it was hard for ANYONE to look good. I wish him well. My guess is that Kadeem and Richard will do well at point for JC next year if he's unable to find another "pure" point between now and then. Not sure how Pickett works at the point, but I'm sure we'll see some of that as well. I'm still excited for next year - especially interested in seeing what Manny can do when utilized in more than a token role. Love his athleticism. And Roman was just a freshman. If his rehab goes well, I have to think that he will be an above-average point guard for somebody for the rest of his college career. Sorry he isn’t coming back, but wish him well wherever he ends up.

The good news is that I fully believe we got the right guy (and staff) in here in Jamion Christian. The thing is JP should have been terminated March 6, Jamion introduced March 20 and retention of a few more might have been possible (maybe not but at least we would’ve had a chance to recruit from a bigger pool to fill openings). We blew six weeks. Also didn’t help the AD on Feb. 16 threw the returnees under the bus intentionally or not. We currently have two more scholarships if nobody else goes. I’d look for a guard that can help us this year and hold the other one for a transfer (Donald Carey?)

Sorry to see Penn go. He would of likely had a good career at Siena. The team needs players that want to be there and contribute to the team so time to move on

Not enamored with any patsos recruits. Thus makes no difference to me.

So, JC is just going to sign all of Patsos' backup recruits? Cool yo. From a few videos I’ve seen kid looks to have ability and is a 3 star recruit. Know he’s had injury issues this year but looks to be worth a look by JC. Who gives a shit if Patsos once recruited him...let JC take look and determine if there’s enough potential... youtu.be/qjpWyg3OyTw

I get one. But all 3 former Jimmy recruits? I like Pickett and not arguing there. I liked Zachery once upon a time too. It's just curious that a commodity as well known as Zachery fell off everyone's lists. Why?
