JP left a bigger mess that Beyer, Lanier or Mitch left and it’s not close. This should not surprise anyone with half a brain who watched the debacle over the past 5 years - the man was and is a sham and his ass would have been gone a lot sooner had not Siena bought him a post season toybox....Roman Penn is a big loss, I'm sure we'll get through it but I don't think it will be even close to smooth...at least we won't have to endure PPC's shit until she realizes that Richard WILL NOT BE OUR STARTING PG next year EITHER....(even money says Patsos returned his Mark Thomas suit with a stained crotch to boot....) Sorry folks, this thread is really depressing... This is obviously a ridiculous early prediction but the starting line-up I see is Smithen PG, Richard SG, Pickett SF, Camper PF, Fisher C ...top 3 off bench Huerter, Shivers, Bentley. I think we might sign another guard though.

Article by Michael Kelly talking about penn's decision to leave. Mentions that Penn informed Jamion of his decision yesterday. At least we know that Jamion has been going after a PG in the time he gets to work during his honeymoon over the last day or so, probably longer.Carey would be a great addition but it wouldn't hurt to add someone who could play this year: dailygazette.com/article/2018/05/17/penn-won-t-return-to-siena-men-s-basketball

Jimmy always grabbed a kid around September Was that one of the charges that caused him to resign?

Fantastic news. I was never that impressed to begin with. Really? I agree with Gorvy. This hurts (at least if Roman was able to recover from the surgery and rehab well). I thought he was a pretty good all-around player. And he was only a freshman. Would very likely have gotten better throughout his career. Wish he was coming back, but wish him well.

No offense to the others departing after just one year, but to me the biggest loss is Roman, particularly in light of Jameon's comments. Jordan is a very good shooter but did not demonstrate the athleticism it will apparently take to play for our new coach. As for Prince, it was certainly disheartening that he exhibited no meaningful improvement from the free throw line as the season progressed and that his hands and touch in close also did not seem to get better.

I feel bad as I always rooted for Roman, but as others have said, bottom line- wish him well and as a fan, I only want kids playing for Siena who love the school and want to be here. I am not worried at all about 18-19. I think what we have now is a coach who will make us proud to be a fan of the Saints. I believe he will figure out a way to make us compete even this year, but if we don't, and the brand of basketball is exciting and well coached kids improve as the season rolls along. I look for good things with Coach Christian and I believe sooner rather than later. Go Saints!

Too bad - Roman was a solid PG. Not sure what his upside was; he was tentative much of the time and didn't display too much playmaking ability in his brief time as a Saint. Take that with a grain of salt since he was playing in a crap system in which it was hard for ANYONE to look good. I wish him well.
My guess is that Kadeem and Richard will do well at point for JC next year if he's unable to find another "pure" point between now and then. Not sure how Pickett works at the point, but I'm sure we'll see some of that as well.
I'm still excited for next year - especially interested in seeing what Manny can do when utilized in more than a token role. Love his athleticism.

Is it worth going after Zachery now?

Be nice to find another 5th year stopgap at the point until he has a year to find his own guy to run the show. Penn wasn't great, but I liked his game.

Fantastic news. I was never that impressed to begin with. Again he was a point guard on an 8 win team...can’t be hard to replace that.

When evaluating Penn's performance along with the rest of the players you have to take into consideration the coach

When evaluating Penn's performance along with the rest of the players you have to take into consideration the coach Considering that his +/- was highest on team....he’s a loss. Anyone who doesn’t see his value from an efficiency and rebounding standpoint is blind. There’s a reason JC was trying to keep him. He’s not blind.
