You're missing my point. Does he help the turnover margin or rebounding margin enough to warrant playing him over another faster and better ball handling guard? we get it, because of the style of play that JC wants to employ..........but let's also remember, bottom line we need to win the "scoring" margin..........we could essentially win the TO & REB margin, yet now win the game............so just sayin', numbers are great, but we still have to outscore the other team............... Right and along those lines Tony always used to use a John Chaney answer to a reporters question. It went something like this: yes we always work hard on defense, it wins championship, but if we hold our opponent to 50 we'd better score 52, so yes we work on our offense too. I probably butchered it but you get the gist - defense wins championships if you can score...

I don't know if we ever had a better small forward, in today's words 3, than Jeff. He could score, play D, rebound, etc. And was a good passer. He pretty much played under control. He also was in syvnc with Brown.

Sloan Seymour, if you go to Verbal Commits and go thru his other offers, is EASILY the best prospect the school has ever signed. Name me one other kid we beat out: Pitt, St Johns, Rutgers, Rhode Island, St. Josephs, Vermont, Iona etc.....for. Somebody just bought the Brooklyn Bridge. Hope you're enjoying your honeymoon coach. I get it but calling a 2 star recruit the best prospect EVER at Siena is a mega-stretch regardless of offers (which have fallen off precipitously with time). I don’t quite get the offer at this point unless coach is hoping for some toughening with age and he’s taking a risk/gamble and hoping that as a soph or jr he makes a jump....guess only time will tell!

I guess you guys don't get sarcasm very well? Of course he's not the best ever. He's not even top 100!! BUT his offers list is the best of any recruit we ve ever signed. That's not even debatable. Read the rest of my posts on what this recruit brings to the table, and you ll soon figure out thst list is 2 years old and irrelevant. Wish people that haven't seen him would stop forming opinions based on the "list."🤦♂️

Let’s just see what happens. Do we get a new and improved version or the same old, same old. We’ll know in about 6 months.

I'm being told there were no "offers" and the "interest" quickly died off across the board. Time will tell and I'm hoping the kid will prove a worthwhile investment...

Give the coach and the kid a chance. Bisbing probably came into the program much less heralded than Wolfe did, (who I still believe if given the chance to play extended minutes could have been very good), and look what he turned into. SS could certainly ly turn into a Bretton type of player. Huerter I think will flourish in this new system. I think his offensive production will take a big jump forward this year. The fact that he is a worthy D-1 prospect and is local is very big. Who knows....if he is successful "this year" in bringing this new style of play to Siena with a lot of 3's being chucked up and they are winning games doing it, whose to say Joe Girard doesn't reconsider and decide to forego going big time and instead chooses to stay local? At a place where he has the real opportunity to becoming the programs all time leading scorer as a four year starter who would be playing for a guy who is encouraging him to shoot and keep shooting the three ball? If he goes to a place like Duke, he may end up being just another guy like Koubek was, but if he chose Siena, his opportunity to be a 4 yr starter and star would increase dramatically, especially under a system such as this. If I were JC, regardless of the odds, one of my very first local visits would be to the Girards. No matter the odds, until he signs somewhere else, you never give up on this type of local talent that fits right into the type of system you play. Never. The fact that he has the conditioning program that he has in the end will make the Girard kid that much harder to defend. Girard isn't coming to Siena....we are far from competing with the opportunities he has at Duke and Michigan.

It is just me, but if i had the opportunity to attend Duke University for 4 years, and even if playing maybe only 5 min a game, I would be early for every practice and even clean the locker room afterward, over anything Siena could offer me, even being carried into the gym from the locker room in a sedan chair.

Haha - I don't disagree. Has Duke or Michigan actually offered Girard? I am guessing not.

Not 100% sure if beilein did but I think he did as well

They make more offers than they have available scholarships as I understand it.

Every school makes more offers than they have scholarships. However they are not guaranteed, even if the athlete says he wants to accept it. Also a number of them are conditional, i.e. you have an offer BUT it is only good if we don't land this other player. Or it is only good after you make an official visit. Or it is only good if you continue to develop. Etc.

Exactly. While Girard did receive a scholarship offer from Duke, I'm guessing he ll have to wait until Cole Anthony (Gregs kid) decides, since they play the same position. He may get anxious and decide he wants to go to the school that has him as priority recruit, not a plan B one. Even if it's Duke.
