Not a WB fan. Do no enjoy watching his team play or the style of offense that he runs. Also do not think his personality is a good match for Siena College. There are better candidates out there. Hope the program goes in a different direction.
A coach at Siena must beat Albany, beat UVM, beat the Bonnies, win all home games, get BCS teams to the TUC, win the MAAC, win the MAAC tourney, go to the sweet sixteen and then to the A-10...but he has to do with players who stay all 4 years, while playing a certain style, talking a certain way, letting certain people see his practices, not be associated to UA, and be likeable to various people.
If there's one word to describe Siena nation: It's NEEDY.
This is perhaps what is bothering me the most about this team. This extreme neediness combined with podunk administrative beaurocracy makes Siena a complete joke.
As for school being needy, agree they have, had administrative managerial challenges. Can’t place to much on Br. Ed. No doubt he was told to,go,to,Siena and straighten the school out. Under his care they have made, completed what others started,IMO 2 moves to improve the school academically. This should have been priority #1.
At the same time, in that position , one has to be able to multitask. Operationally and athletically the school is also challenged. It was, is well known that several years ago the school was in a financial bind.
Athletically Siena as fallen from a leader in the perspective league, and the area to a cellar dweller. At the same time they have not completed the mission statement of using the once storied program to market the school. The school,is down 5% in enrollment since the heyday of the program according to media reports.
Firm believer the school can bounce back. Br. Ed to be fair inherited a mediocre management team. Now time, he has had the time to adjust and know the college to make the necessary changes form mediocrity to restablishing Siena to its former status. Act now, make the hard decisions. br. Ed wasn’t brought in to make friends but to turn the school around. I am sure that what everyone wants here.
