I don't dislike him but agree with Boogie. For him, as well as for some others thrown out there, I just think that the next HC has to infuse a really fresh start and this isn't it. Will Brown is like a slightly watered down Becker. I'd be fine with it. Brown has been beating MAAC teams already with largely less athletic players than what he might get as a MAAC coach. His knowledge of the transfer and JUCO markets could also be useful in 'reloading' scenarios should the administration approve. And he already has local relationships and connections...like the City Rocks. Maybe you and others wouldn't like the possibility of continued player turnover that may result but, more than likely, the results would be better than they were under Jimmy overall since, unlike Jimmy, Brown has a tendency to win some games in spite of lesser talent as his teams are more disciplined in general. Over the years, I've also noted Brown's ability to adapt when injuries arise. That's also something we've missed.

I agree. His father is a big time coach, and that's nice but tell me, just exactly is that worth? JMO. I will tell you what it's worth....a ton of recruits( that he can immediately drop in his son's lap) who can't play for the " Father" at a Michigan but could play for the "son" at a strong mid major with a solid fan base and a 13000 seat arena.

I could see that he might spot a kid here or there but a “ton”? Michigan isn’t evaluating the kind of kid that generally lands in the MAAC. I think Dad and staff are busy enough recruiting for Michigan at the Big 10 level. Lot of work to be done at Siena before you can link the phrase “strong mid major” and Siena in the same sentence.

Yeah, not to mention finding another 7 or 8 thousand fans to fill the rest of the 13k seats.

Siena would be GREAT move for Will Brown. If he could rebuild this basketball program.. he would get serious money from a BIG 10 or ACC schools within three years.

For years I couldn't stand the guy but like everyone one else in life, he has matured and gotten his act together. I actually respect a great deal the job he has done and how he has developed his program. I don't want to go crazy here and say he's Mr. Personality but he seems to be a much more amiable person as he has matured.

I do like that Brown has a system and he recruits to fit it like a machine. So if Becker’s my first choice. I guess I’d look at Brown as a consolation prize. Based on some of the recent names floated I could warm up to Brown especially if you’re looking for a proven winner recruiter and decent coach. Although not a sexy hire he’s far less risky than some previously mentioned.

Don't get me wrong...young and charismatic would be nice and I've wanted that but, given the options we've heard, you likely lose some predictability of true success with those alternatives. Brown is successful already right down the road. He's had a top 150 team per Kenpom in 4 of the last 5 years and 180 the year in between in spite of playing in a lesser conference. The MAAC only had 3 of those each of the last 3 years...and just one 4 years ago. UA would have been top 5 team in the MAAC by these numbers all 5 years, so it's not like the guy has to even change much from what he's already doing a couple miles away. He'd enter the MAAC as a top 5 MAAC coach already.

Holy F. Will Brown to Siena would be priceless on this board. The venom towards him would make JP look beloved. More non sense but fun to see your guys reaction. This is truly becoming a circle jerk. You have predicted we will hate anyone we hire with exception of the done deal, Mr. Beilein, and Mr. Pitino. I intensely dislike Will but, when he is announced as Siena's coach, he will be my coach.

My issues with Brown are not coaching related. He has done really well at Albany despite the cloud the program was under when he started post Beeten.
That said, I don't want him to be at Siena ... it would just be wrong.

IF Brown was ever named coach, you can pretty much kiss the rivalry game goodbye..............can't tell me that their wouldn't be some hard feelings from the UA side of things, and honestly who could blame them.....................

Or maybe it would make an even more bitter rivalry? Maybe it would be like lesser version of the Babe Ruth trade.

LOL, and then if Brown does the flip flop.................now, he is saying no rivalry game unless some of the games are at SEFCU..........but if he were to turn red-coat (ala Benedict Arnold) by switching sides, then he will probably say that games are only to be played at TUC....................
