Hiring Pitino... No need for search committee, saves money. With the scrutiny the program would be under, Siena will have the cleanest program in the country!

Do it quickly, the shock will wear off by the time the season begins. Plus get it done before the derby, Everytime they show Pitino at the track they can say Siena coach Rick Pitino.

Yes, the money would pour in for $iena. But at what cost? I’m not taking sides, I’m just asking. This move should be approached with great caution.

Good, Beilein is also denying ever talking to Siena about the HC position.

Well it was fun while it lasted. Still can try Pitino but Becker and Beilein are both good options, I'm not sure if we could afford Becker though

It would also mean Siena eventually under ncaa and perhaps FBI scrutiny. No thanks. Hiring him after firing Patsos would be like firing Emporer Palpatine for being too evil and hiring Darth Vader instead. Clearly Pitino is a desperate man if someone of his stature would even consider working at Siena. Is that what we really want? URI's AD had a handshake agreement with him and the university's president overruled him and said no. I expect Siena to exercise the same judgment. One cannot give Iona a lot of crap for running a scummy program, and then turn around and advocate hiring a guy that always seems to be coincidentally in the vicinity of scummy happenings. It's hypocrisy.

Could you imagine Pitino recruiting at Siena?? He wouldn't have to cheat. Just show a kid who you're battling Vermont or Iona for his two national title rings and NBA pay stub. Read more: sienahoop.proboards.com/thread/5907/pitino-interested-siena-basketball-coaching?page=3#ixzz5ClXTxMECHe had to cheat at Kentucky? At Louisville? At Hawaii when he was an assistant. Of course, he denied any wrongdoing at Hawaii. As he did with the hookers. And with his player getting money from Adidas. Amazing how he kept getting blamed for things he had no knowledge of or involvement in. What an unlucky man.

I do not believe it will happen, but the possibilities sure are fun to think about!! Just thinking of the players we would get is really exciting. However, that means you would have to think about the players we already have. You would have to think some would certainly be leaving involuntarily, because what player would not jump at the chance to play for a legendary coach like Pitino. Just one of the many negatives that would occur along with the positives. As a Siena fan, of course I would love it. As a Siena alum, I'm not so sure.

I think people are blowing these salaries out of proportion. This is a step up and stepping stone to a bcs job, the American east is not.

That’s a year old or two I believe, I don’t think we have any trouble affording him.
