Another thing fun to think about is the reaction we'd receive on the road. A Pitino hiring would certainly bring people out of the woodwork to attend games in the normally poorly attended games at our MAAC rivals' gyms. Same is true at our non conference opponents. I personally would be very disappointed if the game here in Olean at Bona's was scheduled for when the students were on break, because they would go wild, and it would be great to watch. We would definitely have more TV games. I could go on and on, but I won't, because, again, I do not think it will ever happen.

This Pitino thing is a hoot to talk and think about but let’s get real there are 1001 reasons why this ain’t happening. As interesting as it is to think about ... there’s way too much working against it....
My realistic top two: 1 Becker 2. Beilein Caputo tied for the second spot
Actually I’m prerty content with any of the above. I just think Becker has slightly more upside as a proven commodity.

Haha money is not an object but nonetheless pitino has an agent, the same one that nearly crippled Siena last time around.

Siena is in a great position, I feel pretty good about all the candidates. Obviously Pitino is the sexy name, but I like the idea of Becker as well. Hopefully be our version of Mark Few Really surprised this board and the media in general are giving Darg a pass in this dumpster fire. We all knew what jimmy was about at Loyola. That after Mitch was handed the job w/o a proper search after fran left. Jimmy was a nut at loyola, we all saw that and i had a front row seat being that my season tix were 3 rows begind the visitor's bench for 6 years. Yes, he calmed down a bit and suppressed sone behavior when he came to Siena. But, it's always been just beneath the surface and he was obviously a whacko in practice and travel situations. To say that Darg knew nothing is dumb. To not know anything about those allegations in a program this small and with all eyes on hoops? Darg should go right with JP. So, yes, hire another lover of the track in pitino. Beilein might be too good for this job lately.

I don't want to beat a dead horse but I expect (hope) D'Arg will step aside as AD before next basketball season. Get someone in here who is a basketball person for AD (like the Marquette assistant AD who is a Siena grad or Paul Hewitt if he's interested). As far as coach goes - I hope the same people who picked Fran are the ones signing off on his hire. Pitino is not going to happen too much baggage. My first choice is Becker and second is Beilein.

You are out of your mind....if the admin does their homework and can get pitino they have to do it. Maybe he can hire Beilein as lead assistant with the expection at taking over in 5 years. Or David Padgett as a lead assistant to take over the program. This I could get behind But I think he would also be short lived after he took over. Anyone notice Pitino hired Patsos' agent?

How desperate is Siena to have a winning program again?! How financially in debt is the school?! Will the MAAC put pressure on Siena to hire Pitino?! #Factors

Afford Becker? How much do you think he will cost? I think people are blowing these salaries out of proportion. This is a step up and stepping stone to a bcs job, the American east is not. Last I saw Becker was at $275k. That’s a year old or two I believe, I don’t think we have any trouble affording him. Becker would run you 450+ out of the gate...at least.

I’m hoping there’s some truth to it, he’d be a great hire. Also I don’t think we need a base salary as high as you stated if that $275k number I saw from a year or so back was accurate. Seriously the way he coaches and recruitis he could have a great run here and just think UAs back to being the red-headed step child 😢of the Capital District 🤪 in nothing flat!

Money talks. Siena Basketball would finally be a money maker with Rick Patino at the helm. GREAT teams could be playing at the TU..merchandize..TV coverage.. I have finally found common ground with you TH24

Pitino denies he is interested, according to SI. Of course he did, he’ll let his agent (Patsos agent btw) do the inside work. He doesn’t want it out there if / when Siena turns him down, it’ll always be he had no interest....

Some of the Siena/Pitino tweets have been funny..
"I didn’t realize Albany had that many hookers."
"Siena parted ways with Patsos in part because of moral issues... now enter Rick Pitino"
"Which local Italian place is gonna let him close the place down and dip his breadstick into someone's stuffed shell for 15 seconds? LOL!"
