You are both correct. You have to excel at recruiting to your style/system...haven't seen that here in 8 years... Then you have to be sure who you recruited buys into the team concept...shaky at best for last 5 years here, but started to come together a bit last year, sans some involvement by leftover from DMC....
Then...you actually have to teach each one of them their new role. They aren't 'top dog' any more, they need to be part of the pack. And alpha doesn't mean you take all the shots and score all the points. It means you are the floor coordinator in the style/system you were recruited for and are being taught to play.
Again, just my 2 cents.

I agree. I think the candidates that seem to be in the front running are all 'complete package' guys. I'm OK with whoever, but lets get a move on. New staff needs to get moved in and settle the roster; everyone deserves to be able to plan and make a well educated decision with ample time to do it.

No Pitino. It's time to get back to Siena basketball. Let's bring in Becker and maybe Siena can become a powerhouse like UVM or bring in one of the others and then we can become "competitive in the MAAC" again; maybe top 5, top 3, and who knows may be even win it every 5 or 6 years; back to crowds of 5500 - 6500. And to be consistent let's change team colors from green and gold to beige. Great to look back to the glory years because future glory years are still a ways off. Why think big when small is so comfortable and less risky! GO SAINTS! Where?

With or without Pitino I believe we can get to top 3 within 2 years with any of these candidates. It isn't rocket science with the resources we have. Would there be much more media noise with Pitino? Yep. But you know, sometimes ya gotta just come out of the dark and sneak up on the goal. Anyone who doesn't think that these young coaches aren't looking to strike and move on is kidding themselves. These guys are making their 5 year plans with a trajectory toward hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars as long as the market will bear it.

Beige as in neutral, as in no big media splash/interest.....Siena being content to remain 'average' and/or 'small' that is how I read it
