Hewitt spotting on campus today... Maybe consulting and helping to figure out an action plan And maybe even driving the search...who better to know the current crop of up and coming coaches, the resources at Siena, and the environment the coach must survive in - he had a winning formula that is in the Siena record books so he would be well suited to query, evaluate and sell our Program to the right coach.

Is it really impossible that Hewitt might be considering returning to coach the Saints? It seems that he perhaps has reached a point in his career that an AD position or consulting for the college would be a better fit, but do we really know that for sure?
The things Ive read here and the quotes I've seen attributed to him in the past seem to indicate that he really loved coaching the Saints. I'm intrigued by the (admittedly remote) possibility. He is my overall favorite Siena coach ever, all things considered.

Looking forward to beilein being named head coach of Siena. Best choice of those still in running. Winners win and this one has won 20 games at 2 different programs, both within two years of hire. Not worried about the recruiting —- just look at the record. He scored 1,000 points as a d1 player, he knows what they look like. He accomplished things at lemoyne in a few short years that were never done in the history of their program. Quit fooling around. The last search firm picked beilein and they ended up with John dunne lol. Let’s go.

As a point of fact, the first rule of using the internet is to never open links that you know nothing about - take a few seconds and at least introduce the stuff you post - we might then actually take a look at it...

I wouldn’t hate the choice of Becker like I did the Mitch and jimmy choices. I just strongly feel that beilein is the less risky choice with more upside. Becker only has to beat Albany, stony brook and one other team having a lucky “papi” year to win the a-east. Contrary to its name there are 15 teams in the northeast 10 conference, for example. I know you guys like to focus on the recruiting but beilein has turned multiple programs into winners — a key indicator of success here.

This guy is a young, energetic, proven winner head coach. He will turn this team around and get Siena back to the NCAAs. Not as fast and not a sold out TUC like if we had Pitino, but he will develop players and do it all with class.

Developing players, pre-game prep and in-game coaching/adjusting is WAY more important than recruiting at the MAAC level. I'm not worried about a guy like Beilein getting talent. If you've been around hoop for any period of time you know the kids with talent. Siena is a relatively easy sale...half of it is just showing up which Jimmy didn't do. Beilein seems to present himself in a similar way as Fran (ie: smart, act together, etc.) That's a big deal to parents.
That said, we're not getting "finished products" at the MAAC level. IMO, being able to develop players and offenses/defenses to work within their strengths & weaknesses is key. Hewitt did that when he took over from Beyer. Same players, better plan. Fran did it even better - based on up game wins. The coach needs to be able to develop a Rossiter from a skinny 2PPG freshman into a POY guy. That's how greatness is achieved at this level. Winning begets winning and the higher caliber recruits will follow.

Glen i hear what your saying but you still haven't shown me any evidence of the developing of players. You don't think recruiting isn't important in the MAAC.I'm sorry I've been around basketball for 20+years recruiting is important in any league.I understand the game plan and everything else. But you still have to be able to recruit those players. Not trying to argue but recruiting is very important.
