Good lord, we offered the kid in October of 2015. If we offer a kid that early he better go high-major. That offer is just to set you up when the kid transfers down. The chance we had of actually landing this kid was very low. Losing the Morsell kid (who starts at Maryland now) really hurt. We were in tight with that kid. Another one if our early 2018 offers...Jake Forrester...has an offer from Maryland

When do we think Jimmy uses the “Darg if I could pay players like Pitino and Miller I would win more”. Maybe a special fundraiser is due.

McGuirl kid from Conn we had on campus last summer, making a big impact vs Kansas on ESPN right now.... Just so we all are on the same page - are you saying: a)So-so (or, more likely, one of his staff) recognized the talent in this kid = A PLUS, or, b)So-so took another pitch and whiffed = A MINUS?

Yeah, the kid had the nerve to take an offer from a Big-12 team like Kansas St. He's a jerk for turning us down, and JP is a jerk for not beating the Wildcats for the kids services. BTW, this is the guard that kicked Wormleys butt during his visit and made him quit that unforgetful Aug 14th night two years ago.

Sounds like you understand and agree with So-so's recruiting strategies - once a bigger program shows interest our origami-like head coach folds like a cheap suit! Kid obviously had interest in us, had to have seen access to immediate PT, would have been at a school much closer to home so parent(s) could easily see him play; in spite of all that, he bolted to a big halfway across the country.
Not faulting the kid at all, but taken in context, this recruitment "effort" highlights the weaknesses in how so-so tries to recruit. So-so just can't hit the real targets. Much easier to take kids with no other D1 offers and then chuck them at the end of year one or two, rinse, repeat.
Another consideration pops to mind. Perhaps the kid went elsewhere after seeing So-so in action up close and personal. Could he be in California, watching our already signed recruit, hoping that the "personal" touch would change the kid's mind and open up his ship? Then again, the trip could just be an early get-out-of-town away from those embarrassing questions about our All About the MAAC Season - we did see how "hard" he worked to eek out the 8 wins...

You guys are getting off track with the would have, should have, could have. Who cares, let’s talk results it’s been 5 years. The fact is Jimmy recruiting results have been horrible, that part is undeniable. Now we can talk about is it from his twice a month vacations in off season, his hating dealing with AAU coaches, his inability to close the deal, or maybe it’s his unique way of coaching, his yelling at players turning his back on game etc. But any way you slice it the results speak for themselves

Until the "rest of the world" knows for sure what is going on with Pastos isn't all the stuff on the recruiting threads "JUNK"! Cause I don't see any decent recruits coming to Siena in light of the current situation.

and to add, talk about "mailing" in recruiting...........for 2019, JP is targeting locals.............props at least for offering Girard (and besides HE HAS TO), but then Ortale-Mahoney-Cook (with next to no other offers)..........if he thinks a group of area kids is gonna elevate this program, egads............

This kid made it clear to the staff he was very interested, but he was going to take the highest offer. He really wanted to play at a BCS school. I only bought it up because he was on TV and playing well. Geez, grumpy posters need more coffee!!

Heard Mahoney was offered by WF during the season. Played well in a tourney in NC this year. Cook has several offers including Vermont. Ortale didbt play AAU, but I like his game a lot.

Look at Girard as an insurance policy should he ever transfer back the mid major level. School showed interest but Rex had no legit shot at him.

The very 1st recruit we supposedly offered...Christian Hinckson...just got offers from 'cuse and UNLV... They can identify talent but like Mitch have no ability to close the door. That is what separates the winners from losers. anyone can identify talent. Just go to hjs pub and see his eye for talent.
