This is true. However what’s confusing is what exactly was Patsos direction from the administration as far as Nico wqs concerned. Not starting him but playing him 30 minutes a game would be a contradiction imho and sends the player a mixed message. If Nico was such a problem at the school (administration issue) and disruptive as a teammate (coaches issue) what the hell was going on? Seems to me this entire cloak and dagger approach is kind of comical, childish, unprofessional and not very smart. The administration along with Patsos should have called Nico in and administered disciplinary action. If that’s being kicked out so be it... The entire directive to have Patsos be the heavy and get Nico to leave is odd to say the least. Especially when Patsos isn’t starting him but playing him a ton. That appears to be in direct contradiction to what the administration wanted, confusing to the player....and makes even less sense if the administration had Patsos on a short leash! Man this program is a $hitshow. Not to mention you don't throw another scholarship kid into the mix by making him the roommate accountable for 'babysitting' Nico freshman year. Directives: make sure he is up and goes to class, make sure he knows what time practice is at, etc. And then ream that kid out when Nico's behaviors go off the rails. What the hell kind of crap is that? HJ won't speak to this because he will just accuse me of defending Kinnon LaRose. Solid kid, supportive family, good student. You bet your ass I will defend Kinnon because he was put in a no win position here from day one. That is not what Siena was, is or should ever be. Another new revelation.

Patsos stopped making decisions on this program a year ago after the Canisius game. AD and small circle of higher ups run this program. Question is will they pony up the 800K and move on this March? So they are the ones responsible for getting beat on the recruiting trail for 4 years, losing an entire senior class, going on vacation with him (resulting in not being available for a recruit in March/April), conducting practice sessions, game prep and in-game decisions? Somebody had to approve Pastos vacation plans and that had to be D'Arg. At least thats the way it worked in my past life. I doubt very much that Pastos could just get up, leave and go on vacation anytime he wanted.

Nothing is changing until the culture is changed. Very sad state of affairs.

Au contraire my friend - this was cited many times before, during and after Kinnon's departure.... Well, I don’t think I’ve ever read the fact that Kinnon charged with being Nico’s babysitter spelled out the way greenblood stated it. I may have forgotten though........

It's OK racer....it was during one of my heated debates supposedly defending the Kinnon LaRose scholarship mistake with HJ where he was defending JP. This is why I have totally walked away from this program (but still root for the kids from afar). Won't be back until JP & Co are gone. I gave him 3 seasons to change his stripes; haven't been to a game last season or this one, but don't miss any that are available to either watch or listen to radio.

While having Kinnon designated as Nico's academic babysitter was upsetting (I'm being kind), the other thing that grabbed me and really made me question how so-so runs his toy railroad, was the fact the ALL of our prior coaches assigned academic and behavioral problem 'children' to one or more assistant coaches. Having a second in command watching and "encouraging" you to go to class, do your work, and keep your nose clean had to be more effective than having a peer/teammate tagged with those duties. I remember many practices where Mike Deane casually offered a body slam to one or more players who might have partied a wee bit more than prudent over the weekend. Big brother was watching, reporting and giving effective feedback. Not good for team chemistry when it's a teammate and, I'm sure, a "star" like Nico would not roll over for a role player. PW had similar management problems as some might recall, when he neglected to assign class schedule registration review to an assistant and found himself with players in class on days during practice time - only an issue first semester after Adam left, but it showed the kids won't do it on their own.

GB--Why do you think Kinnon got a scholarship to Siena in the first place? Thats the funny part. The kid gets ONE D-1 offer and you're still out here saying, "He was put in a no-win situation from the start?" Huh? If someone asks me why Kinnon left, it's simple. He hated being yelled at. He came from a town with 1000 people in it, and he was their Jimmy Chitwood. He's never encountered negative feedback on his game before. I'm pretty sure everyone agrees, and before he got to Siena this was evident, you need thick skin to play for JP. Kinnon might have the thinnest skin of any player ever at Siena. So lets be real, Kinnon took the Siena scholarship because he had no other offers. So now you want to condemn the guy that actually gave him his only shot out of HS?? Great small town kid, and I personally liked his game. This staff didnt, and they didnt think he worked hard enough at his shortcomings. Thats not good for a kid on the D-1/D-2 border.
Now he's at a low D-1 school that has no expectations, and hopefully he can flourish in anonymity.

I can't fault a kid for grabbing the D1 ride if it was his only one, maybe it was short sighted on his part, but can't blame him. He may have wanted to attend a few more games and/or practices to see what he was in for.... and on JP and the staff, how the hell are you not vetting these kids?? to find out of they even have the make-up to handle the rigors of D1 life?? The whole process reeks of laziness..... Hey kid, here is a scholarship, Ok we are done. I mean if you are gonna blow $30K a year on a real project, why not make sure he will be around in a year or two when he may pay off?? Siena has had way too many of, as you said: "Kinnon took the Siena scholarship because he had no other offers."

So Richard is the next man up at the point. Hopefully Patsos let's Richard play thru mistakes like he allowed Penn to do. Richard ran the show just fine. Him and Smithen on the court together gives the Saints good ball handling and allows Shivers to attack from the 3 spot. TH got mins at the 3 as well and produced. So this injury gives Penn the rest he needs after the overuse. And it gives several guys opportunities they would not have had with Penn in the game for 40 mins every game What does it matter if Richard gets time at the point? You’ve been saying he’s leaving for two months now. Is he goingt to change his mind, Oops I mean your mind? Not my mind lol Why should he come back regardless? Penn will be back to 40 mins when he heals. But if he and Smithen run the show for the rest of the season Siena will be fine in that backcourt while Penn is out. Just needs to play Friday to get the curse off

Or would we have seen a different side of this argument if LL was only playing 25 minutes? Once again he did not start off playing 40 so his average is what it is. A 40 min guy to me stays in the game unless in foul trouble. Everyone else is yanked in and out. That is the difference. His foul trouble is why he does not average 40 mins. That injury is from overuse. Probably the same issue with Wright getting hurt and missing all that time Jr year.

Roman Penn is officially out for the season. Don’t think we win a game the rest of the way. Ok now you will see what I meant. Just need Horn to play with Khalil and Smithen running the point team will be fine. If he plays Sammy I see more than one win coming

There is NO combo of players that will make these team a winner. They are what they are at this point... for a myriad of reasons.

I never said Kinnon was the next superstar but the HC of THIS D! program recruited him and offered him a ship. Then that same person put him in a NO WIN situation by making him a supervisor of his teammate who was supposed to be 'superstar'. What about that can't you understand and why do you always have to denigrate the kid? There is now almost an entire team that took the scholarship from the Wizard of Baltimore because they had not other offers. There is now according to several pundits here an entire team on the D-1/D-2 border. And you accuse me of condemning the guy who gave just Kinnon his big chance offer. Get real. I am condemning him for his repeated behaviors while collecting an inflated paycheck from a college in financial straits (so I hear) for doing a consistent inferior job and then spewing all kinds of excuses about why he isn't able to turn things around. BTW: nice new place, and when JP is gone I will be sure to come for dinner on my way to a game.
