Do you actually think the coach would throw his best player off of the team? If he doesn't know how to handle his star player, (Early season: "I want him to shoot 25 times a game." Mid-season: "I wish Nico wouldn't shoot so much.") and Nico was not happy, then I think they came to an agreement. Why would the AD throw the best player off without consultation from the coach who is responsible for the performance of the team, thus his own career and possibly the AD's? Patsos stopped making decisions on this program a year ago after the Canisius game. AD and small circle of higher ups run this program. Question is will they pony up the 800K and move on this March?

Nah they all moved on because they had NBA aspirations. Jumbo’s on pace to lose over 70% of his first three recruiting classes with more to follow from year fours. That’s logical? ? No one said he wasnt at fault for some, or even most of the defections. But to constantly blame him for every kid that leaves is idiotic. I think it would be wise to give him his $800K and both parties move on. New coach means at least 5 new season ticket holders will come back, and one more that never went to game, and still wont, after a change. Thats a start. Either way the apathy on this board has become unbearable. I see no reason why any recruit would ever come here if they had access to this site. JP has ruined it, and the "fans" are trying their best to kill it altogether. Im not saying every kid is a run-off HJ but some are....in addition numbers like the 70% figure is indicative of something more serious. Mostly a coach and AD not doing their job. The kids offered obviously have not been a good fit for the program (for a multitude of reasons previously discussed and documented on this board). It’s the only way you can explain the astronomical turnover rate. You’re never gonna win with numbers like that....someone at the College really needs to do a little soul searching and figure where they want this program to go....

You can argue about this board, but when a coach is 5 years in, underperformed as much as this one, made the comments he has made over the years, not sure what you expect. Go to any message board of a team whose coach is not meeting expectations after 5 years and what do you find? I don’t think this is that different from most teams who have an active fan base as we do. I am glad to see you say that you think he has gotten himself into this mess. That includes the lazy & poor recruiting. I would like to see the result you want as well. Papi just thinks it is everybody else’s fault for some reason.

So now he's a puppet? D'Argenio should be fired on the spot for the extension if they can't pay the $800K up (is that really even the number?)

So they are the ones responsible for getting beat on the recruiting trail for 4 years, losing an entire senior class, going on vacation with him (resulting in not being available for a recruit in March/April), conducting practice sessions, game prep and in-game decisions?

This blows my mind. Now we get the buyout number and the reason that the team is doing poorly. Geez, those guys coached pretty good games in the tournament.

Why would any self respecting coach ever put up with that working arrangement when it’s his name, career and reputation on the line.
That’s not logical and makes no sense? I generally find when something doesn’t compute an element of truth is lacking.

I agree about this board. Any recruit or parent of one who reads this board would never want to be associated with Siena or JP. I also have heard someone is willing to write that check, only question is does the college want that check and roll the dice on another hire?

After the blow up vs Canisius, yeah, his bosses had him by the short hairs. Your element of truth comment is funny. Guy admittingly fighting for his coaching life is gonna kick, the ONLY (most of your opinions) legit player he has on his roster, off the team?? And just give me one logical reason why Wormley left Aug 14th if the reason i gave you wasnt true? If he was "run off" he'd be at another school by April. And why did he go to a JC school? Did JP fail his classes for him? You giuys can hate 24/7, I'm over it, but try to keep it a little real.

I'm not pretending to know the exact contract situation, but i do think its 2 more guaranteed years, a third not.
So lets get the $800K check signed and we can all get back on the same page....rooting for Siena to win basketball games.

The college now owes him $800k and the program is on life support. Sorry I just don’t buy the JP as the innocent 😇 victim act. Although i do believe DArg has some culpability but for reasons other than controlling Jimbo’s every move.

And who’s fault is it they only had 1 legit player on the team? Couldn’t be his lazy recruiting when he had a ton minutes to offer. Funny how it took a little heat make him work a tiny bit.
