Yes and it blows my mind. To make it even more ludicrous, after the game going home I'm listening to the game wrap up on 1300. And they're giving the defensive player of the game award to Evan. Are you freaking kidding me?? Fridays problem is that he always find himself out of position on the defensive end. I agree Evan is a horrible defender and can not figure out for the life of me why they continue to play him the minutes that he gets. Friday is a project and had 0 offers coming out I believe. Hopefully he stays next year and dedicates himself to getting into better shape and adding 5-10 lbs of muscle. Think that would help him big time. Probably true but even with all of this if Sammy played equal minutes to Evan and PO he would out perform both.

Nico lost more games for us than he won. Yeah he had his moments, but the stuff the board doesnt know about, was detrimental to the team. And weren't most of these tendencies know to JP and CO (including AD) prior to him coming here? You can throw the kid under the bus but the drivers and navigators are not left unscathed in this one. This is the risk you take when you go after someone with 'too much swag'. If you can't manage it, you might want to learn to walk away. Especially when it puts you in a position to be destroyed from all positions. Just my 2 cents.

Another roll of the dice that didn't work out.

It was dissapointing not to see Sammy Friday playing in the 2nd half.He would outperform Fisher or Oduro on most nights, his aggresivness around the basket, whether on offense or defense is surely noticed by Siena fans.he could have been productive at stopping SP players driving to the hoop as Fisher cannot stop anyone because he is too slow and they step right around him,he also just stands flatfooted with his hands straight up allowing opposing players to lay the ball in the basket as if they are doing warmups.Does anyone else notice this or am I delusional! That might be true but has nothing to do with Sammy's PT Oduro is playing all the 5 mins and that keeps Friday on the bench. It's the youth movement

This is basically what I said about a week ago. JP wants lots of versatile bigs who can pound the glass, a PG who is super fast to get transition leakouts and run the show, and a “glue guy” wing a la Ryan Oliver who will do everything. I actually think the 2015-16 team was best suited for a JP title, but those Iona and Monmouth teams that year were unbelievably good and Quis got injured which hurt that upside (Wormley was leading leakouts and Nico was bringing the scoring punch). Instead, JP has none of that. His PG is a game manager who can hit 3’s, lead, and not make too many mistakes. He’s surrounded him with lots of combo guards and wings, none of whom are complete players (Horn and Shivers closest) but all of whom can play a role on a MAAC team. Then a thin group of bigs who don’t really fit what Patsos wants to do other than Fisher’s leadership, Prince’s post moves and Sammy’s overall activity and energy (sometimes). If you put those all together he has the blueprint for a perfect JP Big. The biggest recruiting mistakes haven’t been missing on kids to UVM, they’ve been recruiting the wrong kids for his system. These guys are capable players (not stars) in the right situation. And those mistakes very well may cost JP his job. Think you are undervaluing Penn. He's a freshman and still finding his way a bit. But he also doesn't have guys with the greatest hands or at finishing around him. His numbers compare favorably as a freshman to both Moore and Wright (they have better assist/steal numbers, he has much better shooting, scoring and rebounding numbers) He's still a freshman and has room and time to improve. I disagree. Wright played pass first ball his first 2 seasons and so his 40 mpg did not take shots from the scorers on the team. The pg should not take the most shots. You excuse his one assist in 50 mins at the point. Yet others are criticized when they play the point and don't get enough assist. I agree that Penn's lack of assist are due to his teammates missing shots. That goes for every pg on the team

I like Penn a lot and think he can be a very nice player, maybe even all-MAAC by the time he develops more. I was saying more stylistically in comparison to the PG's that Patsos has had when he's won games (Wright, Cormier) that he is more of floor general and shooter than the explosive driver and fast break finisher that Wright and Cormier were. I think you are misreading it a bit ... there is a reason that they tried to move Wright to the 2g because he wanted to score more and distribute less. I think JP likes having a pass first guard who will manage the game for him. To be honest, so do I. My favorite all time Siena pg is not Brown or Bennerman, it's Moore. Bingo And Wright wanted to score more but struggled to do this from the 2g position. He needed the ball in his hands to score rather than as a result of ball movement within the flex. Nico should have started at the 2 and Wright should have continued to play pass first ball. Patsos decided to give Wright what he wanted. Never let Nico start and sacrificed the mins of others so Wright could be the MVP by shooting the most to score the most. How did JW play the last 12 mins of the championship game with 4 fouls? Wright and Nico were shooting jumpers. Patsos allowed that. The ball should have gone inside just one more time to get JW out. But no...it was most important for Wright to get his shots. He could not let Nico outdo him

And on it goes....if everyone just steps back and looks at the BIG picture (hint: Mark Thomas size XXXego) everyone is essentially validating one major point - Patsos cannot evaluate player skills and utilize them effectively - he strikes out on the recruiting "trail" (as in, he's usually trailing the pack and picking up quick commit leftovers) and then compounds that failing by moving guys around at the expense of TEAM - his reputation is hanging on PO becoming all world in the MAAC and so all must conform to that dream regardless of what may be needed now to make it happen later....

It just won't happen IMO. PO was the wrong guy to risk your job on. JP screwed up big time while recruiting or lack there of, and tried to sell PO as the next big thing. He has an up side for sure. But he will never be what JP sold him as. Only 8 reg season games left and he still isn't even in shape after getting all the minutes he wants. You would think getting unlimited playing time would motivate you to get in shape and be the best you can be. But I guess if it doesn't matter how you perform, hey why try to improve fitness level. We won't even talk about shooting skills and free throws.

Yeah he had his moments, but the stuff the board doesnt know about, was detrimental to the team. yes that is true, they even had to move him off campus this yr to try & cope with all the baggage..........still, that 2nd half performance he gave vs. Monmouth last March was of epic magnitude, without it JP never gets to the final........ I’m thinking he was moved off campus because the previous season he had a room mate with disabilities...... you guys really think you know of Nico especially hoopjunkie! Give me a call since you seem to be his daddy! Some of you read between the dysfunctional lines and witnessed the volcano eruption process. I wouldn’t wish his form of guiding a student athlete to a rat! Thank you to those who’ve been a true fan of Nico’s! He’s not done yet ...... God willing🙏🏼

Was he a risk? Looks like it. Another roll of the dice that didn't work out. And that’s the crux of the problem with Jimbo – way too many rolls of the dice, that haven’t worked out for him or Siena. So-so Jimbo rolled the dice as a shortcut to hard work on recruiting trail. He thought Siena fans were looking the other way when he insulted our intelligence by telling us Cam Gottfried was a D1 player – as for the “youth” movement. That’s his built in excuse for the poor season, he rather win 9/10 games playing a bunch of freshmen than win 11/12 games playing upperclassmen. Sammy Friday isn’t making that big a difference- remember it’s all about “spin” and “sound bites” with this head coach. Again much easier to talk about his 5 year plan, it’s all about the MAAC etc etc rather than work the recruiting trail hard in off season

I believe the biggest problem with Jimmy's coaching is the progression of his players, especially the big men!I don't know for sure but JO never improved on his rebounding, the 2 exceptions were Bisping and Long but that was due more to their work ethic. This turnover problem has also gone on much too long.GO SAINTS!!
