Correction... the reason siena beat Canisius is because they shot a HORRIFIC percentage for the first half and the game. You don't think those 19 extra possessions had anything to do with it. How do you think they offset the fact that CC only had 3 turnovers to Siena's 17? Saints pounded them on the boards and made up the possessions enough to make it a game. Yes, CC shooting helped but it wasn't the whole story. saying all of that, the return trip to Koessler is gonna be a blow out, 15pt+ loss for Siena in the rematch.................

Supposedly the attendance for last night's game was 5,065. From what I've heard there was at the absolute most 2,000 people there Thanks At this pace we will be back in the ARC seriously why play in a 15k seat arena when your now drawing flies

If Siena found a way to close the turnover margin gap and shoot well, maybe the rebounding could keep them in it though. Having only 3 turnovers in a game is very rare. If CC falls back to 10 or so and Siena still smothers them on the board it's conceivable that even with CC shooting much better at home, the rebound margin could still make it a close one once again. And Rider depends on its bigs and outrebounding opponents. If Siena keeps the rebound margin closer than it usually is, they could make it close. Rider also can't shoot FTs for a lick. If Siena fouls, they may not make us pay for it. I don't see any real blowouts as long as Horn and Richard come back soon. They will just continue to be frustrating losses that could have been wins if they just were coached a little bit better. That is one thing you have to give Jimmy SOME credit for though. They are rebounding very well for a small team.

It's starting to look like Friday won't be back next year on Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday,Saturday or Sunday but he'll always be on Friday.I couldn't resist that To bad for the kid. He really could have helped the program. Its hard to believe that Siena's admin can sit back and watch Pastos screw up 80% of the kids lives that he has recruited over the past 4 years. Wouldn't you think their would be a clause somewhere in his contract that could get Siena out of this mess he's created?

A lot of the credit for this has to go to Penn, Smithen, and Shivers especially..but I do think that if Jimmy focuses on anything, anything at all...it's offensive rebounds. That's his #1 coaching mantra by the #s.

Yes, they will. But the Griffs have no inside presence whatsoever and everyone beats them on the boards. By the numbers, outrebounding them by at least 10 boards is a fairly safe bet for Siena. 20 boards is again on the table with the right effort. Even if Saints lose the turnover margin by 10...the 2 things would cancel out the possession battle and then you're talking about a battle of FG%/PPS. The Saints may lose that battle...of course...but it probably won't be a 'blowout'...not if Horn and Richard are there matching some of CC's threes. CC doesn't attack much...they depend on the 3...so fouls aren't as bad against them.

Now it’s not an argument of if we lose it’s just how badly we lose ... comical.

I am as critical as any on Jimmy's decisions but to deny his offensive rebounding focus/prowess as a coach is folly. The Kenpom #'s bear it out consistently for his entire career. Even this year, 62nd in the nation. Every coach has SOME strengths. To just deny that is just being emotional like he is. Also, as bad as it looks, Siena is 111th in the nation at getting to the FT line. And that's a down year for Jimmy. The guy has a style. Right or wrong, he has a style. Could he manage or tweak that style and be 10 times better....absolutely.

Great JP can focus on offensive boards while everything else seems to be out of focus.

Great JP can focus on offensive boards while everything else seems to be out of focus. I like that he has a style...and his strengths were much more effective with guys like Wright and Bisping out there. He has a certain potential about him that frustrates me when blows it in so many other ways. His .500 could be .600 or .700 if he just got his head out of his ass sometimes. If he was a little smarter in using his personnel..he could even get away with lazy recruiting because he does some good stuff in the toughness categories with his teams.

I would ask, do you know for a fact that during his rants, JP is saying to rebound the basketball with blind fury, or that constantly in practice this is what his focus is on................you have no answer for that, so I would be careful in pimping for an area of positive results as to what truly lies behind it.......from those that have attended practices, they are telling quite the different story as to what is focused on through their observations..................this is what happens when #'s are looked at just as to say what they are, it tells a "story" but not the whole story........the only #'s that really matter is the final score, and how you get to that point is determined by many many factors................if you went by #'s for last nights beauty, no way would you think that Siena came away with a win...............
