First regular season game that was fun to watch in a long long time. Prince was a beast!!! Loved the way the freshman played and Penn was unconscious with the 11 assists. UA plays at Monmouth tonight at 7 on ESPN 3 should be an interesting game to watch. Interesting, I thought the Lehigh game was a pretty good game to watch as well. Didn't love the outcome but thought the Saints played fairly well and competed for 45 minutes.

Love the enthusiasm, Bernie. Hope you're right. I'm generally an optimist, but I haven't seen enough to make me think that is realistic. What have you seen that makes you feel this way? I know I've ready said it but in 5 games I see guys that have worked on different things and everything translate. Penn handles the ball better than anyone we have had in the past 9 years and creates plays and movement. The fact that he's scoring is just a cherry on top. This kid is so much better than we all think or could imagine. He will have a bad game here and there but the fact that he loves the game and is so energetic shows me he wants to be there and be the BEST. ODURO is an athletic monster and will continue to grow and get stronger which is a scary thought. The ability to play above the rim and pass as well as he has makes me so excited. He will be the best big man we have ever had and the most exciting. People will come to watch his dunking even though he has so much more to offer. Clareth is just a wild card but gotta love his will to win. Bently is also an athletic freak and the fact that he's playing with his buddy is a treat for both of them. They will want to get better and create a dynasty. The team is energetic and has hope in their steps. I am putting it out there that we may beat Memphis and the losses we had early did nothing but motivate them to play harder and learn more. Coaching staff is smart for challenging tough kids early and they are resilient. We are so much better than anyone thinks and when these guys break out it's going to be so fun! Siena is back and better than ever! Not better than 08/09, but will be darn close. Please don't hate me for saying that bc I loved that team, but I sense something special with these guys. WOW! I don't know how right you are going to be, especially about this season, but you got me excited about even the possibility. These kids looked good in the last game, let's hope your positive visions start this week. Go Saints!! 1

IS, why is it that every time someone questions a Siena decision or offers a different opinion or view on things, you consider it bashing, criticizing and implied disloyalty? A person can be a fervent Siena fan and still want (and voice the need for) changes in the academic program, coaching staff, athletic administration and even the paint in the chapel if necessary. Blind loyalty is fine for some but not everyone's cup of tea. I’ve stated my reasons numerous times in other threads. Basically, I’m sick & tired of a select few who want to be highly critical of my favorite team. They’ve basically been saying the same things for 4 years and it’s getting old. I’ve tried to explain how Siena to me is like my relative (pick a relative you’re real close with) and who’s being constantly attached with critical comments. Even if the people being critical have a valid point, it still doesn’t make me (or you in this example) feel any better. Since the coach & admin are part of what makes up the Team, they’re part of the family I’m talking about. I’ve simply had enough and am the voice of the supportive Be fans.

Why is it a negative for a college either to not want to offer more graduate degrees (or some other reason which may prevent them from offering more)? In other words why do some continue to bash the college/president/etc for not offering more degrees? Maybe Siena offers what they offer for their reason. Why the need to attack the college or admin? You are correct, but they have also added some programs. I know they have added Data Science and some kind of medical major (I don't claim to know the details.) Not criticizing the school, but MANY small, private (esp liberal arts) schools do have to adjust if they want to thrive these days. I have listed 2 ways that Siena is working on that. Agree to an extent. Dave stated “Siena has no clue”. I say people critizibg Siena have no clue. Siena knows what it’s doing. Anyone have an extra $2-$3 million to donate so they can add more Masters programs? Adding masters programs isn’t exactly free.

Not sure which Dave partner, but with any business, and yes the college is a business like it or not you have the best qualified people running it. I don’t care if they are clergy, secular, male , female, gay straight, or of what religion. The important aspect is qualifications and experience. The last years have been disaster ours and a fiasco, that is a proven fact. Brother Ed has done an outstanding job but , and it’s a big but does he have the managerial displeasure surrounding him to bring the school, back to,its once illustrious past. I deal in reality. I support the school. Have seen to many institutions waste away under poor management. Look no further than a sister organization than St Rose. Admire your fandom, as far as the sport aspect. Support the team, but if the admin makes bad decisions just Don’s say it’s ok. That’s not how real life works.

And, yes, Siena will be around looonnnggg after you and are dead, gone and forgotten - even if their sports teams never have a winning season ever again. How’s that for business?

I certainly hope you are right. But the question still remains at what stature. Finally added nursing program, Masters program, should have been added years ago. Had a mission 9 years ago to use their B.B. rite am to promote the school, we certainly know where that went. How many programs that are non revenue generating, have been deleted over the last several years. Strides have been made, but the school is just beginning to realize it has fallen behind. All yes the enrollment is down 5%. These above mentioned one’d facts are the tip of the iceberg bring in a consultant and watch out. Changes need to be mad like it,or not. I want to see the school grow prosper, but new thinkers need to be brought in. Candidly Br. Ed may be the one who can do it but one wonders if his hands are somewhat tied. We all hope relish the fact that the school again is headed in the right direction. We all were also taught to think, not just be a follower.

PS,if it bothers you THAT much, maybe you should consider finding a new favorite sports team/college to root for (including as a business). As a Royal’s baseball fan, we learn to live with down/bad seasons. But the Royals (and Siena) will be just fine w/out your advices/opinions. Just as both will be fine w/out my opinions. I’m Positive Pete but you’re Debbie Downer. Who’s more fun (and less of a negative drain) to listen to?

Old Dave, can’t say it’s been fun chatting with you tonight but going to bed now. My Celtics (my favorite NBA team) just win and are in the Conference Finals. That coupled with my ever optimistic outlook for Siena this season can’t possible bring me down with your (and others’) opinions about Siena basketball.
Good night.
