Not criticizing, stating a fact. If you are investing nearly 200K for a private college education a school with more academic options in majors, minors and greater number of graduate degree programs will often be the choice. Most kids change majors at least once in four years these days and want exposure to as much choice as possible to maximize that 40 to 50k cost per year.

Yes your absolutely right as do other MAAC schools. And who's fault is that? The men and women managing the organization who do not want change, basically haven't a clue. Like the know the true turnover at the school to bring in fresh blood. Why is it a negative for a college either to not want to offer more graduate degrees (or some other reason which may prevent them from offering more)? In other words why do some continue to bash the college/president/etc for not offering more degrees? Maybe Siena offers what they offer for their reason. Why the need to attack the college or admin? You are correct, but they have also added some programs. I know they have added Data Science and some kind of medical major (I don't claim to know the details.) Not criticizing the school, but MANY small, private (esp liberal arts) schools do have to adjust if they want to thrive these days. I have listed 2 ways that Siena is working on that.

IS no one will challenge you on your fandom towards Siena. But it has been a long time since you graduated. Times change, the school needs to adjust. Look across town St Rose the financial challenges they have, and yes Siena still has financial challenges. It is time for the Admin, Board of Directors to make some hard decisions. All over the country this is happening to small liberal arts schools some are changing some will just melt away or will merge. If you are as big of a fan as you blog, I know you are, than you want is best for the school. In the private non profit sector many of these great institution would have already been a dream, lets hope the correct decisions are made.

IS, why is it that every time someone questions a Siena decision or offers a different opinion or view on things, you consider it bashing, criticizing and implied disloyalty? A person can be a fervent Siena fan and still want (and voice the need for) changes in the academic program, coaching staff, athletic administration and even the paint in the chapel if necessary. Blind loyalty is fine for some but not everyone's cup of tea.

All of these issues go away as long as the winning continues. The schedule is right where it needs to be for a solid mid major program but a bit ambitious for this young group. I hope the program doesn’t get discouraged by the 0-4 and schedules more games against Fgc, Charleston, Hofstra type programs in the future.

For as horrendous the Bucknell and FGCU games were Siena isn't that far away from being 3-2. But you are what your record is and we're 1-4. I think this team will play hard and be entertaining to watch especially at the TUC. But I (along with many Siena fans) want to win MAAC championships and be a top mid-major and just don't think this coaches recruiting/coaching style will get that done. Gave him a chance but after 4 plus seasons you formulate an opinion. That said I'm going to root for them to win as many games as possible and hope we get changes in March.

By next year we will be a top 10 mid major program. That Hofstra win just woke up a sleeping beast of a team. I've not had that much fun watching a Siena game in years aside from last year's MAAC championships.

I'm generally an optimist, but I haven't seen enough to make me think that is realistic. What have you seen that makes you feel this way?

It’s definitely fun to get votes in the mid major poll. I hope that in the future the program sets that as one of its goals for the season. All 31 games count, in other words.

I'm generally an optimist, but I haven't seen enough to make me think that is realistic. What have you seen that makes you feel this way? I know I've ready said it but in 5 games I see guys that have worked on different things and everything translate. Penn handles the ball better than anyone we have had in the past 9 years and creates plays and movement. The fact that he's scoring is just a cherry on top. This kid is so much better than we all think or could imagine. He will have a bad game here and there but the fact that he loves the game and is so energetic shows me he wants to be there and be the BEST. ODURO is an athletic monster and will continue to grow and get stronger which is a scary thought. The ability to play above the rim and pass as well as he has makes me so excited. He will be the best big man we have ever had and the most exciting. People will come to watch his dunking even though he has so much more to offer. Clareth is just a wild card but gotta love his will to win. Bently is also an athletic freak and the fact that he's playing with his buddy is a treat for both of them. They will want to get better and create a dynasty. The team is energetic and has hope in their steps. I am putting it out there that we may beat Memphis and the losses we had early did nothing but motivate them to play harder and learn more. Coaching staff is smart for challenging tough kids early and they are resilient. We are so much better than anyone thinks and when these guys break out it's going to be so fun! Siena is back and better than ever! Not better than 08/09, but will be darn close. Please don't hate me for saying that bc I loved that team, but I sense something special with these guys.

I don’t care as much about albany this year—- they are another team ranked in the top 150—no more blowouts outside of Louisville please. If they are as good as 08-09 or even 09-10 maac championships aren’t too much to ask for over the next few years. That team was 27-7, 17-1 in maac.

I love the enthusiasm also- and I hope he is right- but that's part of problem with this coach, its always wait till next year etc. This is his 5th year- he has been a head coach what 13 or 14 years now- he is never going to have Siena a top mid major or perennial contender in MAAC- he just doesnt have 'work ethic" for that. I'm of the opinion if he has the 4th losing regular season in 5 years here at Siena he should be terminated as Siena head coach- the Siena admin may have different idea's and that of course is there right.

First regular season game that was fun to watch in a long long time. Prince was a beast!!! Loved the way the freshman played and Penn was unconscious with the 11 assists. UA plays at Monmouth tonight at 7 on ESPN 3 should be an interesting game to watch.
