I refer you to title Vll of the civil rights act of 1964, mr lee has been harmed in the work place. this is reverse discrimination, If Roberts name was martin king he would not have been reassigned - when he was singled out he was unfairly treated by the corporation. furthermore should anything happen in the future due to actions of his employer they could be responsible.
the guestimate of 100 viewers is off - approx. 500,000 viewed this game according to sports media watch - it seems your depth of the law and ratings is commensurate with your understanding of basketball and coaching

MTS should now have the opportunity for one retaliatory personal attack, after which you will both shake hands, hug briefly (but manly) and move to your respective neutral corners.

OneIndian.......you said that a previous post in this thread from Ricky was "almost coherent". What do you make of this one? Sort of makes Ricky's post seem like a paragon of lucidity.

Okay, I work for a big corporation so I have a sense for why ESPN made the move on our "General"'s work assignment. It's not PC--it's business. Why have one of your employees--and your company-- become part of a joke, or part of a controversy, unnecessarily? Robert's assignment from one game to another harmed no one and precluded a distraction that wouldn't have helped him or the network. A smart move for all concerned. About 100 people are going to watch this game. MSESPN made it an issue by moving the General to another game. People thought it was so ridiculous they leaked it to Outkick's Clay Travis. In the end great pub for the General- a really good up and coming broadcaster. Yeah, and someone would make a meme making fun of ESPN for picking Robert Lee to announce a game in Charlottesville and instead of those 1,000 people watching, it has been shared to tens of millions in social media. Even Robert agreed it was a good idea and would have been non-news if someone at ESPN didn't leak the decision.

That confederate was part of the problem. Not to say Lee should have been moved from the game. Just saying comparing his name to MLK is bad form

hoarsefeathers coach, I purposely used martin king in the premise - the example had nothing to do the late civil rights leader just as the broadcaster has no connection the late general other than the natural nickname. harvey grant liked to be called the general.
while gen robt. e lee is known for leading the losing side - historians have widely written he may have had more to do with ending the civil war than Lincoln. his biography is worth reading and I commend it to you.
since we are on the generals topic I pose this question: on the state capitol steps in Albany a union general sits astride a grand hoarse. he is known for saying 'the only good Indians I ve seen are dead ones.' should it be moved to an achieves.

Robert E. Lee is known for leading the Army that rebelled against the US government in an effort to protect the enslavement of people. That war resulted in over 1/2 million American deaths. I've read about him too and I'm confident he was a much more conscience-torn, thoughtful person than the great majority of people who are demonstrating to support "Confederate heritage".
General Sheridan? I'm sure he had many faults and said many ignorant things, but he didn't rebel against the United States.

gen Sheridan was a tyrant and personally lead the slaughter of over 10,ooo native American men women and children in texas, he is notorious on many counts - he was gen custers' boss and thought the little big horn was a snowbird before an undistinguished commission in the union army. he was also infamous for the slaughter of the great buffalo to the point of extinction
when Virginia seceded from the union gen lee turned down an offer from Lincoln to instead return to his home were he founded Washington lee college. his family linage stretched back to george Washington - whose great grand daughter he married. he was commissioned by Andrew Jackson to defend the land south of the mason Dixon line. mr Jackson actually was calling the plays. your assertion that the war was fought over the 'enslavement of people' is true but not entirely accurate. the imputes of the six southern states that followed Virginia did so after the republicans of the time might have fixed the election. the facts are, if the greatest idea in the history of the world was to endure the 3/5 s rule had to go. the revolution had been in motion since the late 1840 s and was inevitable.
yes lee was a tortured soul and religious learned man, who knew his fate was to be the foil in the rebirth of a nation.
so, do you remove the men and women of the past and hide them in the closet, or keep them in the public square to remind us nothing is perfect and life as we know it in America is precious
what you prefer to call confederate heritage is actually American history, like it or not. history is rhythmic, understanding the past is imperative.

It is American history, a very sad part of it. I just don't believe people who sought to destroy this country should be honored for doing so--you wouldn't disagree with that, would you? Nor do I think Germany should erect statues to honor Nazi leaders.

you are entitled to your view and thanks for checkin' in, but you answered my question with a question accompanied by a double negative, then offered a false argument. I stated my case, like gary from Potomac I suffer fools well, but only so far. you have a shallow understanding of American history amongst many other things since I read a number of the 392 comments offered. while not surprised you felt the urge to troll around in Nazi land I ll play along 77.
Germany erected many statues of murderess Nazi thugs after WW11, you see they built a wall - yes a wall, and divided the country in half. east and west, called it the iron curtain. now, the east side erected lots of little adolphs and some lennons and the such, ( not the one who said 'if you go carrying around pictures of chairman moa, you ain t gonna make it with anyone anyhow ), maybe a couple of stalins hell he only wacked 30 million people. but in 1980 they tore down the wall and the statues and freed the people the communists had enslaved.
I don t have a dog in this fight, I ve never met robt lee ( no not the former superintendant of west point ) the broadcaster, but I ve listened to him call maybe 70 games because of a penchant for radio but mostly because the tv guys are often blowhards. he does a nice job but needs to call the score and the time immediately after every made basket. he often gets sidetracked because his color guy is wandering around in glory days and is not disciplined enough to get in and out on time. I think he is suited better for the pace of baseball - which he has said is his first love. gotta like that, huh
this whole thing exploded when fuel oxygen and sufficient heat from the mob allowed some moron kid to pummel dozens of people and murder a poor woman. the commonwealth of Virginia allows the death penalty and while I m not so wise as the lawyer guys and strictly between us two - I m bettin 77 that dumb ass kid is gonna get what all Nazi s ought to get
In the future if you are gonna bring it, bring it strong, or take a seat in the cheap seats where you belong
- all the bush league batters are left to die on the diamonds, up in the stands the home crowd scatters, for the turnstiles

I'm comfortable with my knowledge of history, thank you. You're right, I didn't bother to read the hundreds of other comments. I don't have time for that, but you apparently do. I just picked up on your attempted obfuscation--look it up--of the situation but throwing in Martin Luther King's and Gen. Sheridan's names in with Robert E. Lee's.
You lose, I win. Let's get back to Siena basketball.

Perhaps you mean "murderous", not "murderess"....unless of course you're referring to female Nazi murderers. And Germany did not call the wall the "Iron Curtain" (that's what you said), Churchill did. And seems like you're confused about those Lennon boys. The one you quote is John, who I'm pretty sure is not related to the other "Lenin" you're probably thinking of. (I wonder which one is more famous?) Oh, almost forgot. The Berlin Wall didn't come down in 1980 as you posted, but in 1989. But maybe that was just a typo. That 0 and 9 are so close together on the keyboard. Sorry for pointing out these mistakes, but as you say: "In the future if you are gonna bring it, bring it strong, or take a seat in the cheap seats where you belong." I would also say you are wrong in your assessment of our previous play-by-play and "color guy" broadcast team, but you just stated an opinion about them, and you are certainly entitled to that. Though I'm sure that most of the rest of us would disagree with your opinion, having listened to them for a number of years. But maybe those of us up here in the relative backwaters of central New York aren't as sophisticated or as knowledgeable as our sports-minded brethren down in the Baltimore/DC/NOVA area. We'll be sure to demand more of our broadcasters in the future now that you've given us some hint of what we should be listening for. As our Siena Franciscans would say, Peace and all good.
