So we could get blown out but they're not decent. Got it. They probably are decent - but I wouldn't go so far as to say these recent results mean that even at their best Carleton is talented enough to be beating these division 1 teams when the stakes are real. Exactly. Put any of these these Canadian teams up against a top 50 opponent regular season & it's a blood bath. These games are scrimmages for US teams. Sure these Canadian teams have a couple decent players but anybody who is really talented is most likely already playing US D1 ball.

I don't care who you're playing, what level you're playing or when and where you are playing, if you're not playing to win, why bother.

I usually don't agree with you but I will on this one....even on inter squad scrimmages you do your best...playing time during the regular season is at stake plus self and team confidence

Carleton is now 3-1 in D1 ball after beating Northern Colorado by 10 yesterday. Play Vanderbilt again tomorrow and JMU on Friday.

I don't care who you're playing, what level you're playing or when and where you are playing, if you're not playing to win, why bother. Pretty simple....not all the best players are logging normal time, coaches are sometimes not turning up the intensity, they're not pressing the ball on offense or defense, not running normal sets, they're looking at bench players and experimenting with game plans. A scrimmage is practice and much different event than a regular season game on how it is approached and executed. These Canadian teams are going all out (it's their super bowl), US teams not so much. Sorry that's just the nature of preseason exhibitions. Ya think Syr was playing to win vs LeMoyne a few years back. If that game was in March it would have been 40 PT Syr win.

I get that these are scrimmages and coaches are using the games as a chance to check out lineups/chemistry. But I watched the Syracuse/LeMoyne game. You are crazy if you think Syracuse was not playing to win that game especially in the second half. That said, I do believe that Syracuse team went on to be a 1 seed and lose in the sweet 16. Moral of the story, it doesn't really matter what happens in these games. Winning all the games doesn't mean the Saints are a great team, a loss (or losses) doesn't mean they suck. Personally, I hope they win them all if for no other reason than it should reduce the amount of negativity on this board for a short while.

My guess is that an undefeated trip quiets few on this board but a loss or two will bring that negativity choir to a full crescendo!

If I recall wasn't the Lemoyne upset the game where Syracuse tried out man to man defense? I believe they were trying as hard as they could to win but were doing so while playing man to man instead of their famous zone.

They were playing man, again my point, if Syr wanted to win they would have been in a 2/3 not man. Syr was up 10 in second half LeMoyne rallied late and won by 2 or 3.
