I never used the word pure. Siena played with a shoot first pg for the last 2 years. Richard is pass first and signed to play the point. There were no mins for him to play the point last season. And now this year his position was changed before the season even started. Those 3 apg were enough for him to be recruited to play the point. He admits as every freshman should that he had a lot to learn. He was already a pg tho. With his size he was trained to play the point. He looked for a school that would play him there. No, you didn't say pure point guard. I'll concede that. However where's your acknowledgement that Richard himself said he came to play shooting guard with some time at the 1 mixed in? Are you just going to gloss right over that posted comment by Richard? Yes he was to play the point after Wright left. There was no mins,at the point while Wright played 40 mins game.

Here are my thoughts on this- Jimmy has made some questionable choices for Playing time the last few years. I don’t think you will see that this year. He will play the best players that give Siena the best chance to win. You would like to think a coach would do that every year- not convinced that’s the case with JP. I do think JP knows his back is up against the wall- another disappointing season and he will justifiably be canned. He will play players that give him best chance to win. Easy for PPC to say play Richard- it’s not her paycheck. If JP thinks Richard is his best chance to win starting at point then you can bet your rear end that’s what will happen- if he thinks Penn gives him best chance to win, rest assured he will start Penn I am not telling him to play Richard. I am stating the facts of why Richard came to Siena. Based on Patsos' words to the press he has changed up on Richard. I predict a transfer because of it. Had it played out in practice with Richard losing the spot to the freshman then fine. But what is happening is not about competition for PT. It's the change up and that usually results in a transfer.

And the reason why Wright is had to play 40 minutes is because Patsos discovered he had no options at the 1 after Wright. If you recall, he moved Wright off the ball when he had Wormley. Ask yourself why he didn't also do that while putting Richard at the 1.

Richard should have been playing off the ball as the shooter. It should have been completely obvious from the day he signed.

Then Worm got benched when he came back and we ended the season poorly. And people were surprised that Worm transferred. Wright demanded control of the ball even from the 2. So no one really had a chance to run the show.

Thats why he signed. He should have gotten spot mins at the 1 with Wright on the bench. Playing them at the same time with Richard off the ball and Wright taking the most shots was not a winning formula Richard had his best game vs St Peters when Wright was suspended.

Obvious to you perhaps, but not to the staff or the Baltimore Sun.
Perhaps Slim can comment.

I guarantee you he would have played Moore off the ball too--- never would have even played Vanderbilt or Ohio state.
