If he wins an NCAA tourney game that should reflect favorably. Short of that, he's essentially crawled across the finish line with a senior-laden team who managed to get it together late and noting that next year it is not expected that the arc will continue upward. My bet is that regardless of this weekend, Jimmy will be back.

With the team at 4-10 (or whatever it was) i would not have been satisfied with a miracle tourney run but with a winning maac and overall record I'd be satisfied with the end result even if it meant a 16 seed blow out. However he is in this position due to the turmoil of the beginning of the season and the results of the past three seasons, even if the previous nine! Seasons before that are ignored. I agree though it's moot as he wil return next year regardless imo.

Would be embarrassing to make the NCAA and then get our butts kicked by Patrick Cole in the play-in game.

There's more mediocrity and still no titles (assuming we don't win it this weekend). The drumbeat would be to bring Patsos back for another season. This is how these .500 coaches can last for a decade or more. Next year is going to be a rebuild year anyway I'd rather make the coaching change now. If it is a terrible year now you have to make a coaching change and you wasted another year. Now the new guy needs at least 1-2 years to make Siena a serious NCAA contender which now puts us a decade since our last appearance. I hope we pull off a shocker this weekend and cut down the nets. Then JP has earned next year. Otherwise he should go - .500 record, no titles and bad roster with a million transfers - see ya.

His recruiting has been so bad that he'll look a genius if he's around .500. You don't get credit for putting our fires you start. It will be harder to can him next year if he shows a pulse (of course financially it might be easier and that's probably the key) Does anyone really think Jimmy will ever get Siena where Iona and Monmouth have been the last few years? Forget about the top mid-majors. A coach like Mitch didn't scare me - easy to get rid of. A coach like JP could really be a PW if a weak admin allows it!

The mediocrity would have to end the following season. He'd be returning every player from a team that went 18-15 the previous year. Another .500 year and you move on. I'm far more concerned he goes 13-20 next year and they keep him around on the excuse that he had no seniors. 18-15 next year and I would be excited for the following season.

I really believe next year has too many built in excuses going in and if he is here next year he will get another no matter what we do with the one exception being a winless year and I don't think that could happen - major problem with so so .500 coaches - getting rid of them is like trying to clean dog crap off your sneaker with one paper towel - can't be done easily!

Nah anything less than 12 wins or so and he's 100% toast and looking at the roster I don't know how he pulls anymore than that off. There would be a full mutiny on hand. Remember the guy is not well liked reportedly in the higher ups and they already is talk about buying him out now. He's living on borrowed time.

I would like to see JP go, either by he is fired or perhaps we luck out and he gets a great assistant position at a great school. Not sure he goes this year, financial, perhaps a well off alum will step up. As for being similar to Iona Monmouth, why with the resources Siena has does the institution not able to get the transfers JUCO players the rest of the league gets, and that is almost every team. I will leave it up for the posters to figure out, IMO not JP fault in regards to that opportunity. Just another factor how the school shoots itself in the foot to further erode a revenue generating program in problematic financial times. Perhaps now that our new President is now fully acclimated he can help with this opportunity. He seems with his resume to be able to help.

Ironic though it would be, right? If there is anything Siena is good at in the post Fran era, it's irony.
