It'll take two things to beat Monmouth:
1 we play flawless - which we didn't last night, too many turnovers, too many easy buckets in transition
2. Monmouth needs to have an off game - they didn't last night, they basically went for all team season averages.
Without those 2 things happening we don't win. Can we beat them if all stars align? Sure. Is it likely? No.
Thanks to Jimmy we really don't have the horses. Once we go to the bench it's all over. Nico's a starter/Shivers is a bench role guy after that there's nothing there, those of you that think we're on equal footing with the Hawks are just kidding yourselves. They've lost 2 MAAC games and we're 2-6 vs the top 5 in the conference.
As far as playing zone vs them, try it, they'll eat you alive & shoot lights out. Shooters love to see a zone coming. Robinson will go for 30 plus.

These should be enough reasons for reasonable people to give up. Why continue the torture, walk away now. This board is full of whiny little bitches. The same old shit day after day. One more game then the tournament it will be over soon, thank god. Don't be a hypocrite and show up tomorrow or for the Maac show your displeasure by staying away. Good luck to all I've had enough with this place.

We will find the National Bureau of Standards example of a real optimist in today's game story in the TU. JP says he's been confident all season that the Saints have a three game run in them for the MAAC! Really? What, pray tell evidence is there to support that - hope he's right but.......

Robinson will go for 30 plus. NOPE, don't need those 2 things...........Siena ONLY lost because of turnovers, they slowed down the transition baskets in 2nd half and even took the lead..............no off game was needed by Monmouth either since you indicate they got their averages ........under a minute to go in the game it was 1 possession, then the POY made the plays needed for them to win...........not much more you can say about that..........the effort was clearly there and the gamble of putting Long on the midget did very well, early in the 1st half Hawks got wide open 3's by us not getting back in transition and thus us chasing Hawks all over the floor........shooters get fooled into seeing a zone because when played the right way they are not gettting reg distance looks but expanded 25ft plus opportunities, sorry but no team is going to even hit those at even at 30% clip............foul shooting was not good either, and in a tight game on the road, that hurt, Bisping missed that front end of 1 and 1.......JO is an enigma nothing more to be said there............had Siena played a "cleaner" game without the sloppiness then they win that game last night.............some iffy execution down the stretch as well, our offense stagnated to where we waited until under 10secs to get a shot (and of course there were about 3-4 shot clock violations).....

What I liked about last night's game the kids played with emotion- Marquis wants it bad. Where has that been all year long? I think we have a shot.

10 more turnovers by Siena and 8 more made FTs by Monmouth, mostly made by Robinson on a few questionable calls was why this was a loss.
When a game has 13 lead changes and comes down to a made shot with 12 seconds left in the game by the POY, I don't call that a vast gap in talent.

Wright bisping and long are solid players. After that consistency is a problem. Wright and long have become elite players at just the right time. Long is finally the player I always thought he should be - he's super-solid-man. You have a team with guys like that you will win every game. I never understood the hype about JO, still don't. People will call me nuts but Id rather have him out and play smaller. I bet huerter would have done a better job than him. If that is unacceptable to some put Friday in. JO has absolutely no energy.

If we do #1, then #2 is irrelevant. If we continue to beat ourselves via silly, unforced turnovers then we can't beat the top teams in the MAAC. However, as we saw last night, there is not much difference talent wise between these two teams. Putting Lavon on Robinson proved to be very effective- he just needs to avoid the silly fouls. Robinson got his points but a lot of them were from the free throw line as he got some very favorable star calls last night. He wasn't the same player he was when we played them at home and I believe it was because Lavon was on him. Can we put it all together Saturday, Sunday and Monday? We haven't consistently for most of the year but this fan still believes that the seniors will get it done. Go Saints!

Why is it when Siena wins or loses against a quality team it's either the other team played poor or we were lucky. Monmouth did not play poor this evening. They played with the same consistency that got them 24 wins before tonite. They scored around their average, shot at their average, turned the ball over below their average and their senior leader scored at his average. Siena fell a few points short on the road to a quality team. It's a hard to win on the road in college basketball. Siena lost tonite because they turned the ball over 19 times, not because Monmouth played poor or "was begging to give the game away" or were flat-out out coached or didn't develop their players well enough. You think King Rice wasn't excited to see Marquis off the floor at the end? Bottom line is Monmouth goes only as far as all 5'8 of Justin Robinson, make no mistake about that and that is what doesn't make them vastly superior come next week. They are the ones coming in with a target on their back. I'm exited and maintaining optimism that a 14-17 or 15-16 Siena team will go into the conference tournament next week and leave it all on the floor. Bottom line is you win three games next weekend and it doesn't matter if you are 18-16 or 29-5, you are going to the tournament. Thats what type of league the MAAC is. Wish I could "like" this post more than one time...Absolutely my thoughts on the game tonight and the team/staff in general. Despite the dire predictions of the team statistician, the man defense was as effective as any could be. It was a late 4 pt loss on the road to an EQUALLY talented (as demonstrated by the score) team that has won 14 in a row. I strongly dislike the "stand around offense" until the final 10 seconds that leads to shot clock violations, but that to me is execution, not coaching. The game was lost on turnovers, many unforced, a few the result of lazy passes. This tem can beat Monmouth on 17 hours rest. I disagree on the effectiveness of the man defense. Siena played way to much of it in the first half and it drained their energy for the second. Marquis was sick all week, hardly practiced and having him chase defenders around obviously did him in when we needed him on the court at the end. Siena's lack of depth, TO's and Monmouth s advantage at the foul line was the difference in this game.
