Us losing last night wont effect the seed. The seed is based on the ENTIRE conferences performance, not Sienas. We're finishing 5th anyway right, so what does it matter? "Finishing 5th"....I hope...our only win against Cornell was pathetic...5th is going to be a battle You are now down on record. Let's get to the conference games and you can then put this post in our faces.

I'm guessing by the time the FGCU game is over (3 wks) we will have a fairly good idea of just how good we're going to be.....this is a large enough sampling and includes UA and 2 of the better MAAC teams as well as SBU and FGCU.

Of course winning games will get you a better seed than losing them Make sure you send this out to all the teams in the MAAC, because what they all do, reflects on the seed the league gets, not just Siena. Iona was 22-10 last year(name ONE good OOC win they had last year), and got a 13 seed finishing 2nd in the league. Sound familiar? Sounds a lot like what people think Siena will do this year.

While I sort of see your point, they (Iona)had a player that some thought was draft worthy and they did take down Monmouth when it counted, who did have a big win on their season resume. I think they had to bump them up based on that, then potentially leaving the 16 or PIG for Monmouth.

The Maac has 5 NCAA wins when seeded 13th or better Yup, we're 5-20 when seeded 13 or higher, and 0-15 when seeded 14 and up, so what? Just proves there have been 5 teams, in 34 years, that could win against a BCS type school in the tourney.

This quote is one of many short comings SoSoJimbo has as a coach/leader. “We need to find someone to play defense,” Siena head coach Jimmy Patsos told Talk 1300 AM. “I’ve always said defense is an emotional thing. When you get emotional, you’re pretty good defensively. We’ve got to work on that.” I believe that playing, working and living with commitment leads to good outcomes. Playing, working and living with emotion leads to mistakes.

The loss stinks. They all do. But all that matters is taking care of business in the MAAC season and most importantly in the 3-4 days of the MAAC Tourney. If we don't win this year I really think we need to move on but unfortunately this was d'argenio's guy. That and the contract will dictate jimmy comes back next year. So let's hunker down and support our Saints during the next 3 months. I think we have the talent to win many games in the conference. Not exactly. These games were the difference between an impossible 16 seed and a hopeful 13 seed. ^^^ Exactly Gorvy. This 'nothing matters but 3 games in March' mantra is illustrative of a defeatist mindset.

Jimmy should spens more of his time on his team, game planing, recruiting and overall worrying about his teams success. Spend less time at other sporting events, banquets, bars and numerous vacations. When his teams start playing like champions and senior laden team it is then maybe he can shift the balance back to fun. He gets out worked and that is what is frustrating to many alum and fans I hear the frustration when it appears the team isn't "great" right now. Fellas, we all need to relax. It's 4 games into the season and everyone has their conspiracy theories, hatred on the HC, disappointment in the players etc...I think 2-2 was a realistic record at this point, and we re 1-3. Still haven't had our full team yet (which should be shared with the fans why not), or lost a game we were favored in. Ps- sorry but last thing we should be worried about is NCAA seeding. How many times has the MAAC rep been a #16 seed?? Fellas, we all need to relax. - Nope, a lot of money goes into the showcase program for the school. It obviously is not being managed very well. hatred on the HC - I find it hard to believe that any Siena fan hates the HC. But it is easy to see why people are frustrated, concerned and more than ready to see a change. I think 2-2 was a realistic record at this point - 3-1 was realist. 2-2 would have been acceptable 1-3 with a seasoned HC, a team loaded with seasoned players that also by all accounts is the deepest, most athletic team in a long time is absolutely not acceptable. Still haven't had our full team yet - successful HCs have their players prepared physically, mentally and with a winning basketball game plan. Others have injuries, suspension, poor game plans, etc... Until the season is lost it is ALWAYS about the NCAA seed.

No team has ever been seeded without consideration given to OOC play. This is especially so for teams not in the power conferences.

Only way to sooth the fan base right now is to win the next 2 games . . . then the season clock can be reset going forward

"Finishing 5th"....I hope...our only win against Cornell was pathetic...5th is going to be a battle Thats where gorvy had us finishing after the loss at GW. He's a "superfan" . Nice try. I posted that on opening day November 11 before any games were played. It doesn't take a "super fan" to realize the potential issues in this program. Sorry that some of my predictions (i.e. Suspensions, injury) have already come true-- I take no joy in them sometimes it's hard always being right, unfortunately.

Can we take a deep breath? Some of you fragile darlings, hug your plushy bear, color in your books, play with your play-dough and drink your cocoa.
We can all agree that right now the team is not quite where most expected them before the season began, but no one factored in no Lavon for 3 games to start the year and no Nico for 2 games so far. So how has the team done objectively (I think) so far?
They beat a Cornell team as expected without LL and without struggling. Next up GW. Despite BB only going 5 and 6, JO missing two open bunny dunks, despite MW missing 2 key FT's late, they still had a chance to tie a team with 5.9 seconds left, that not everyone thought they would beat on the road. Two more seconds on the clock would have allowed a drive to the basket for a chance to tie or a drive and a foul with a chance to tie. Not a bad showing by any means. (and still no LL)
Kansas, #7 in the country coming into the game. 21pt. underdog and they play them to with-in 5pts with 6 1/2 min remaining. Despite BB going 6 and 5 and no LL or NC. Sure they lost by 20, but no one would have expected it to be that close missing two starters and having BB continuing to struggle. That makes the team 1-2, where many think they would be even with a full healthy team.
Finally, UNC-A. A team I think many Siena fans looked down their nose at because they are from the SoCon, and they surprised everyone. Once again a "non-Brett-like" BB with 6 and 5, no Nico, JO playing matador defense late because of 3 PF's, and just a horrific perimeter defensive effort in the second half. You can blame the loss on EF giving up a rebound if you are inclined to find reasons why he shouldn't play. You can say he is a defensive liability, but yesterday the the entire defense was a defensive liability. It was a stinker of a game. Numerous times the Saints had it down to 4 or 5 and then the defense would let UNC-A rain buckets. On the other side of the court, welcome back LL with momentum killing T/O's (although JO contributed just as many). Back to 19 T/O's a game. Numerous times leading up to the season Tony and many others correctly said "if we can cut down the turn-overs and tighten our perimeter defense, we are going to have a great season." Yesterday, they reverted to form (hopefully for only one game) and it doesn't look like such a great season.
So after 4 games, I see an expected win, two encouraging efforts in road losses, and one really bad road loss. Haters will hate, but JP is doing about what was expected so far, and those were some pretty good expectations.
Peace

The Maac has 5 NCAA wins when seeded 13th or better, 0-15 when seeded 14 or worse. Right now the Maac is 15 games under .500 and no doubt headed to another 14-16 seed. If the whole season is always only about three days in march it will never achieve the level of success it claims it wants in the tourney. This is why I am hopeful that the tweaks to the schedule will make progress in this area. But, the games need to be won to be meaningful. I agree the better the seed the better the chance of NCAA tourney game win; but disagree with 0-15 stat for seeds 14-16. Siena got a victory as a 16 seed. Edited for typos.

I don't like losing either and am frustrated too. I just refuse to join in the mutiny or revolution against the coach, coaching staff, players, admin, etc..
I'll just continue to show my support.

Okay genius, I asked the question to another non-believer, give me ONE GOOD OOC WIN Iona had last year. ONE. Recap: They finished 2nd in league, 22-10, and were seeded 13th. Fill us in on the OOC win that got a so-so 22-10 record a 13 seed.
