One game, one win. If Quis and Brett bring it like that with any regularity we have a shot at playing into mid-March.

I agree on WB but other than a couple of 3's not falling I thought Fisher was fine. His defense didn't overly hurt us. Of course, he didn't help us either. 3 or 4 times, small Cornell players went to the hole right in his face. No threat to block shots (282 min last year, 3 blocks) That won't show up on a stat sheet. I remember one rebound last night he actually got. Funny they did that consistently for the first ten minutes when he wasn't in there. Can you explain that?

I blame the team managers for not effectively distributing the anti-Fisher face masks.

+1. I agree, it's way to early in this season to even consider worrying about next season. We won the first game. Next year all the frosh are sophomores. We know we have 2 difficult games coming but let's enjoy the season and see where we're at in March. We've had enough bad years now that we don't have to look forward to one. I totally agree it's way to early to start worrying about next year.

Speaking of refs, I spoke with Mike Kitts at halftime only to find out his son (Mike Kitts Jr) was officiating the game (Tallest ref with black hair).

Cornell needed JO on the bench to have any chance to win, so they took the game to him, and put it in the hands of the refs. Good strategy, it worked. They were whistle happy. Like I said, EF (6'9" 230) blocks about 1 shot every 100 minutes of playing time, so getting him in the game for JO would open up the lane for a team forced into playing a smaller group because they were missing their two bigs.

When you watch your son ref a game, do you cheer? Nice call Mike! Way to take control! You're not blowing hard enough on that whistle! What did I tell you! Steady breaths!

Kittsy is not only his father, but his boss. He assigns all the refs for the MAAC, so he was evaluating all the refs, including his son.

They are pretty black and white.

Maybe it is my old age and I have it wrong, but I seem to recall some of the same people saying the same things about BB at this point in his career. Could be wrong on that, but I believe there were many who thought BB was "a throw away player" after his freshman season.

Could be wrong on that, but I believe there were many who thought BB was "a throw away player" after his freshman season. After year 1, I thought he'd eventually be a 3rd teamer...but more in a Phil Valenti way. Always like him. I never thought he'd develop into the rebounder that he is now. I figured he'd peak at like 7 per game. Brett usually isn't clicking in November. He usually saves his best stuff for December on. I hope he's not peaking early. And I hope JP gives him breaks to rest those knees. If that's how Brett plays after a few days off....yeah..let's just do that. He could seriously follow in RyRo and Anosike's footsteps and be at the top of the nation in rebounding this year. That would be amazing to have 3 different bigs from the same school almost lead the nation in rebounding in a 7 year span. OD did it twice and RyRo came in 2nd. Bisping was 19th last year. If he improves the double double output earlier in the season where he's usually not as good , he could do it.

And why did JO end up in foul trouble, because the guards did not keep the Big Red guards from attacking the rim. We can do this all day. You guys are making way too much of this one game (that they won by double digits). Cornell plays a princeton type offense that is difficult to prepare for and defenses need to be ever vigilant against all of the screening, motion and back cuts. As Grazulis said, the freshman guards were reactive rather than confidently playing the defensive scheme.

I'd take 33 points on 29 shots all day everyday. I don't know if you realize this but that ratio of 1.138 points per shot would have put us at 10th in the league in offense. Siena, who shot the least amount of threes in the league, was 1st at 1.33 PPS. So, your analysis could use some work. Lol. Yep they also averaged 0.73 per FT. And nobody was guarding them.

Pastos needs to get over whatever issues he has with WB. Fisher, plain and simple, can't rebound or play "D". WB needs at least half his minutes. Just my sense of the situation but I don't believe Jimmy was a big fan of WB's "Summer Abroad" (the whole summer) program. JP seems to have a certain set of values and high on that list is a commitment to the team. Sure other guys went home for 5 or 6 weeks, but then they were back. I think a message was being communicated.
