www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore?gameId=400917387Ugly game but a win is a win... we took too many threes (especially Nico). Don't think we had the best gameplan - Cornell had very little inside and we did at take advantage of it. If we're going to beat GW we have to get something from the bench and the big four (without Lavon) will have to ball out. 'Quis and Brett were men today. JO hurt with foul trouble. Defense has to be better. We should have an excellent offense - didn't play that efficiently and still scored 89 points.

Take his with a grain of salt because it's based on one scrimmage and game but here's my take on next year;
We're in deep doo doo next year losing over 70% of our offense. Richards is a capable ball handler but I don't see a prolific scorer, Shivers reminds too much of Paige, Heurter is a role guy. I'm holding out hope for Friday and Smithen. Fisher looks just about the same as last year. He kills you on D and for all the minutes he logs he's just not productive where it matters.
On this year; We're gonna go as far as Wright Bisping Nico Long and JO will take us on offense and I like the addition of the quickness on D from Smithen and Richards. Hopefully they can generate a little scoring.
I know it's early to worry about next year but based on early observation our recruiting needs to get better.

Not our best game- but good to have first W under our belt- Quis and Brett were fantastic. Like what Kadeem brings to team, and Khalil is quick, we are noticeably quicker on perimeter. We had some defensive lapses today- probably because we started two freshmen. I’m sure that will work out especially once we get Lavon back. When we started game out with 2 straight turnovers—I was like here we go..LOL. 8 turnovers is promising scoring 89 points when we didn’t play well is encouraging. I do think the D will tighten up

Agree, but perhaps if we have as big a year as some people on here predict recruiting will pick up. It's been awhile....

Fisher was really bad on defense. I can't believe WB is that much worse. At least SB is athletic and could recover more than Fisher

Saints have to learn how to keep the opposition out of the paint. At times it looked like they put a red carpet in the lane for Cornell's use.

Marquis was unbelievable today. 31 pts, 5 boards, 5 assists, ZERO turnovers. Every time we needed a big play, he responded. Great game from Brett as well.
The newcomers looked a bit overwhelmed but that's to be expected in the first game. Overall not great but a win is a win.

Great to see them using the 3 ball. Without the 3's this is a loss. I'll take 11 made 3s every game.

Agree but we took a few way to quick in the clock notably. Iconand JO too one-off the inbounds pass that could have waited

Loved the pace that we played. Push the ball up court and look for a shooter or a cutter. Freshmen looked like freshmen which was to be expected- looked like they settled down and got rid of the jitters in the second half. Nico came off the bench and it was the spark we needed to get our offense going. Quis looked terrific, Nico is a game changer if he can stay healthy and Brett and JO gave us critical points in the paint. REALLY disturbed by our defense as their high pick and roll and then dribble drive was poorly defended, especially the first 10 minutes of the game. How many layups did they get in the first 10 minutes? This is what most teams did to us for the last half of last year(successfully)and obviously this appears to be the strategy that most teams will employ this year. We need to get much better defensively if we expect to have the success we all are anticipating. How many fouls were called? I hope this isn't a sign of how games will be officiated under the new rules. It is very difficult to watch and becomes a free throw shooting contest the last 5 minutes to see who prevails. Seems like it gets worse each year.

Great to see them using the 3 ball. Without the 3's this is a loss. I'll take 11 made 3s every game. You can lose by shooting too many threes too. We made 11 but took 29 for a decent 38%. But Bisping/Wright were 7/11 rest of the team 4/18. We had a big advantage inside and I was surprised we didn't go in there more. More importantly we got to line 30 times and made 22. If you shoot too many threes you don't get to the line that much.
