I thought the new rules were suppose to discourage the Duke type offensive fouls. That crew must not have been told that. Every close call was an offensive like nothing changed. Play on please and don't reward the flop.

I'd take 33 points on 29 shots all day everyday. I don't know if you realize this but that ratio of 1.138 points per shot would have put us at 10th in the league in offense. Siena, who shot the least amount of threes in the league, was 1st at 1.33 PPS. So, your analysis could use some work.

Playing time is earned at practice and I suspect the coaches don't believe he has progressed enough to trust him on the court yet. I went to the scrimmage and while WB didn't log many minutes, the minutes he did play I didn't see anything that would tell me he is a difference maker. A lot of people ragging on Evan and quite frankly I don't get it. If you want to talk about his defensive deficiencies then you should look at the entire team after the Cornell game- they all need to work on stopping dribble, drive penetration or it will be a long season of watching the other team go to the charity stripe and our key players in foul trouble. agree 100% on the dribble drive, they allowed way too much penetration.................hopefully with new players they will all buy into the defensive end, also understand rotations/switches and help defense scenarios!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WB needs to play more. Presser made it sound like Evan won the game? I'm all for rah-rah, but come on. We need some athleticism inside. This is so right! I agree on WB but other than a couple of 3's not falling I thought Fisher was fine. His defense didn't overly hurt us. Of course, he didn't help us either.

I liked the way Shivers and Richards played in their first game. Particularly in front of 6ooo plus hometown fans. Shivers in particular showed no fear going to the hoop and being fouled 2 x's. Was he nervous? Probably and that is not a bad thing but one you have to overcome. Let's see how these guys do in January before we summarily write them off.

Play on please and don't reward the flop. how about that awful foul call on Nico...........who clearly elevated away from Cornell player to snatch a high rebound above the rim............no push or shove but somehow got called for an over the back foul.................funny though, they showed that replay 3 times on the big screen, and then the very next "tough call" by an official they did not show any replay (1 official came over to the table and told crew not to be showing calls multiple times, unreal)!!!!!!!!!!

I thought Richard looked really good for the first ten minutes of the first half. He was very quick and distributed the ball well. A faster version of Wormley. With his athleticism I think the D will come. Smithen looked good to me too. Too early to knock Shivers. He didn't look to shot but that isn't a surprise for a frosh in his first game. I'll take him being like Mo on defense. But seemed faster and quicker than White was. We shot poorly from the outside in the second half early on so we kept pushing the ball inside. Seems we went flat when a lot of layups and close-in shots didn't fall and EF missed his first two 3s. But my takeaway is how much more athletic we looked. Shivers, I think, will be better than White. He's not a shooter but I think he'll succeed at what White tried to do. From the tape I've seen and the couple of games, he's a better dribble driver than White. White was a full speed straight ahead or bust and he didn't finish well. He had the handle of a center and the speed of a PG. The guy didn't even need a blinker cause he didn't know how to turn. Shivers is a craftier finisher, a better FT shooter, and has a better handle than White ever did. His senior year at Clinton he finished 2's at 58% and FTs at 75%...and he drew a ton of fouls. I expect him to get a lot of points at the FT line for us. In part time play in 2 games he's already 5 of 6 from the FT line. He's got 10 points on 5 shots. Nothing wrong with that. He doesn't need to lead us. He just needs to play D and score when there's an opening. I don't see him shooting .194 from 2 point land like White did.

I thought EF did very well on his switches and he yelled them out. Some of his fouls were nonsense with the contact caused by the shooter. But no matter how he tries, and he did, kid has no lift.

I agree the overall defense in this game wasn't good. We can't continue to let teams score as easily as Cornell did, it's going to cost us.
As far as Evan goes, yeah I'm hard on him, I've watched 2 games (yes it is early) but I see no improvement on the defensive side of his game from last year. Same issues and they are glaring. In addition, he doesn't rebound well for a big. IMO WB shoots it just as well and has way more upside defensively, rebounding and athletically. A player like that should not be relegated to the bench. I don't buy the practice excuse i played in HS and coached kids all be it on a youth level, occasionally you see a kid that just doesnt necessarily practice well but performs come game time. Everyone is different.
As far as Shivers goes I see a similarity to Paige not White.

Agree with you on bogus call on Nico but the same ref that made that call gave us an immediate make up call next trip down the court. He is a very good ref- just screwed up that call.

WB just needs to get a legit chance. Getting one minute here and there isn't a chance. Give him room to make a mistake and get some confidence. We NEED this kid to be a contributor. Especially next year.

I agree on WB but other than a couple of 3's not falling I thought Fisher was fine. His defense didn't overly hurt us. Of course, he didn't help us either. 3 or 4 times, small Cornell players went to the hole right in his face. No threat to block shots (282 min last year, 3 blocks) That won't show up on a stat sheet. I remember one rebound last night he actually got.

I remember one rebound last night he actually got. Yeah, but that also happened to everyone. He didn't stick out as much as he usually does. And he actually had a blocked shot. So, I'm just saying it wasn't as blatant as usual when everyone else is playing good D and he's not.

The problem is that Fisher is the same defender/rebounder that he was last year nothing has changed. Others played poor defense this game, with Fisher it's a given for most if not all games. Don't know why it's so hard for some to see because it's a glaring deficiency. I have no doubt that if WB gets the same minutes as Evan he eventually out performs him in every category.
