When the horses get here the wins will follow. And that is a big question mark-- in what 11 years as head coach jimmy has had a grand total of one 4 year player he recruited make 1st team ALL MAAC.. he just hasn't been a real strong recruiter- he seems to close well but he aims very low and over 11 years his lack of all MAAC players reflect that. This is a make or break year for Siena and Jimmy- I think most of the fan base will not accept any thing less than a top 4 MAAC..

So the MAAC is going to suck worse this year? Not necessarily - every year there are surprise teams in MAAC -who knows maybe Siena will be surprise team this year.

Has he done that in the past? I dont know. But I will say this, we all seem to judge people on their past history - I get that, but people do improve over time. JP certainly knows more now then he did in the first half of his Loyola career. All I'm saying is the guy may be a dud, but he also may turn out to be a seasoned coach ready to take his game to the next level.

People improve over time when they change and grow. I think that's what some of us are hoping will happen here. Then it's a question of whether we are a Stakes Caliber team or if we fall in the 50k Claimers.

I still have faith in Jimmy and the lads! However, if Siena going to make a surprise run in the MAAC- we need to see leadership ON THE COURT! And they have be loud! As I told some of the players at the social ... It should never come down to coaches! It up to the players to be tell each other to be " confident " or to knock off the dumb turnovers or fouls!

I really don't know what to expect this coming season. My expectations were pretty high coming off of JP1. The team showed improvement through the season, and was playing really well for the majority of the games late in the season. They still were capable of throwing a stinker in there once in a while, however. Game 2 against Fresno comes to mind.
JP2 was really a tough year with the injuries, but even before Brett went down, you could see the Jekyll and Hyde in the team, with good performances (Umass, Bona, Quinny) mixed in with terrible performances (Vermont, Loyola, Fordham). Those were all before Brett went down and Lavon and Rob got dinged, I think. You just didn't know what team was going to show up.
I suppose we can blame some of that on team chemistry problems. They addressed Pat Cole, who we have concluded was a problem in that regard, but I did not see any noticeable uptick in the performance of the team after that. So who is responsible for making that better going forward? I really hope they are able to come together and really play as a team consistently. If they do, they will have good results. There is enough talent to contend.
Oh yeah, Stop fouling so freaking much. That might help, too.

Tony, it is your board and I respect and appreciate all that you do...BUT...the fact that Jimmy could get a 4 year recruit first team all MAAC player at Loyola is notable in the extreme! Just not in the direction you keep using it. Bad facilities, high academic standards and an athletic department far more committed to lacross than basketball and he still managed to create some consistent level of success. The all MAAC recruit issue should be put to bed. Imho

Like was said before, we're going to need contributions from our freshmen, BUT our upper classmen have to raise the level of play across the board. And the key word is consistency.

People improve over time when they change and grow. I think that's what some of us are hoping will happen here. Then it's a question of whether we are a Stakes Caliber team or if we fall in the 50k Claimers. Spot on GB! Taking it one step further, coaches evolve a particular style and philosophy and hopefully recruit to match needs and complement the playing group. There has to be give and take on both sides when the playing group changes each year - players need to adjust to their new coach and each other and coaches need to adjust based on personalities and skill sets. Recruits have already developed a skill set and start their collegiate play coming in with a level (high or low) of confidence and attitude. That confidence needs to be strengthened and reinforced by staff and their peers - constantly berating them in front of their fans with no fan visible corresponding pats on the back does not accomplish this, IMO. Attitudes also need a tweak or two and that should be done in private one on one and/or on the practice floor. While I applauded the "suggestion box" implemented late last season since that translated into increased minutes for Jimmy Paige - a positive for his development - I didn't see it as an overall confidence booster for the team. I really believed the staff should have been pushing for him to get minutes and the head coach should have bought into it. Coaching is not just X's and O's, it involves constant adjustments to mold the mix of players into a team that can effectively and consistently execute the X's and O's.

Imho Sent from my SM-G900P using proboards I have no problem with anyone disagreeing with me on this -- fact is 9 years 1 4 year player made 1st team and 1 four year player made 3rd team- have to tell you - not good. And yeah he made Loyola competitive if you consider 500 competitive. Let me be clear here I certainly dont think Jimmy is the PW-- he doesn't stink- I have serious doubts if he will ever be anything more than a 500 coach or as some say "so-so Jimmy". I'm hoping thats not the case. Maybe he got overconfident after 1st year and has learned his lesson- but from my seat I see a coach- recruiting, coaching and scheduling just like he did at Loyola. And again I hope I'm wrong= hope Jimmy proves me wrong in spades this year- but I'm not willing to listen to anymore excuses - schedule too tough, we are too young etc- if after 3 years he cant get Siena ( Program with more resources than any other MAAC program) into a top 4 MAAC finish- then he isnt the right coach for Siena in my book

Who else renewed their tickets for this season?
Who are actually not renewing, definitely? I'm not talking about those who are threatening not to; rather those who are definitely not renewing.
I'm curious.

I'm curious. Already renewed. Never thought about not renewing. Looking forward to a solid, competitive season. Time to get this thing turned around.
