They left because some of you will support the product no matter how far they drive it into the shitter. Thats what REAL fans do. They support the program thru the good times and the bad times. Sure it would be nice to win every year, but guess what, that doesn't happen at the mid-major level. EVERY program goes thru dips. EVERY one of them. Iona won 2 games 8 years ago!!! 2! Now they have a good recruiter/coach that is allowed to bring in whoever he wants, so big schools wont touch him despite his tainted succcess. They seem to be good for awhile. Manhatttan fired their coach in 2010! After a 52-70 4-year run. These are the two staple programs in the conference (besides us). IT HAPPENS PEOPLE. The Mitch hiring wasn't bad for 3 years, its bad for 5-6 years. 3 actual, and the 2-3 to clean up the mess. Jimmy cleaned it up very well. Fran took over a 6 win program and won 15 games his first year. Jimmy took over a 8 win program, and won 20, and all I ever hear about is how "unreal" Frans first year of coaching was. Last year, everything that could go wrong, did. Bisping and Silas gone. Cole a bad seed they were counting on heavily, and the "star" player at 70% all year with a bad ankle. Excuses, or facts? The "real" fan will support the team when it needs it most. The front runners will be back when it's fashionable again. It's a business. You serve me shit at your establishments I'm not going to continue visiting them. You are a Siena alumnus and one that doesn't understand the non alumnus angle...We get that.

Hoopjunkie is a Marist grad I believe. I'm a Sage grad. He's a true fan. Both of our fathers did go to Siena, FWIW.

A non-alum here ... I grew up rooting for Siena basketball, would have gone to the school if my parents would have let me live there (and then did the next best thing by finding the most similar school closest to Albany (Marist)) A lot of my friends from Shaker went to Siena, I worked at Saga in High School and during the summers of college and probably spent as much time at Dappers, The Beer Joint and Little Horn as just about any Siena student.
I always followed the Saints but it really grew when I lived in NYC and NH. Following the Saints was a way to keep in touch with home and family.
I havent had season's tickets in years but would have them if I lived closer than 2000 miles away. I continue to follow the Saints relentlessly despite not seeing them live in 4 years or so.
My point to all this is that all non-alums should not be put in one pot. Some of us non-alums have every bit as much emotional stake in supporting the Saints as those that graduated from the school. Truth is, it's the non-alums and community support that elevate's Siena's program from the typical mid major.
All that said, I am not sure how you can root for a team for years and not develop some sort of attachment to them. (To me, it's not a financial attachment, it's an emotional one) Then again, the same "fans" who are nonrenewing are many of the same ones who feel it is okay to criticize and belittle players.

It depends on if I was a fan of that establishment and/or had ties to it or the staff. If my favorite restaurant's food quality started to go down I'd probably still support them/frequent them for a while. It all depends on my reasoning for them being my favorite. If the food is bad but the drinks & company are great then yes, I'd still frequent my favorite restaurant even if the food sucked. The point I'm making is my "favorite" anything. If it's my favorite there's got to be a reason. Hard for me to change favorites.

Many of us are very loyal fans some are not especially with an extended losing period. All the more reason it has to get turned around now! I live in die with Siena basketball... doesn't matter that I did not go to Siena. That said I can understand economic decisions. But one way or the other I'm rooting hard for the program (at the game, tv/radio etc). It is a pride thing Siena graduate or not. I love the Siena program!

I've never been to HJs bars but even though they're not my current favorite I'd probably return even if the food was bad. The reason why I'd go in the first place probably would have nothing to do with the food and everything to do with the views.

Sometimes....The truth hurts Saintsfan, a question? You have been saying that Patsos took over a disaster (Which we all acknowledge). You said the talent wasn't that good (plus factoring in the injuries) so you're ready to wash your hands of the program now just when Patsos now has a roster of his own? You said numerous times that the damage Mitch caused was going to take another couple of years to fully recover. I'm not trying to bust your balls I am just curious on your thoughts/rational? I do agree that the administration is very frustrating and completely agree that Siena needs new a AD.

"Saints Fan" when are you changing your name and giving up your administrative position? Anything less is hypocrisy on your part.

I always find it interesting, the JETS draft Gino Smith, everyone says it will take time on draft day but by the time camp opens if he isn't starting on day one he is a bust and a wasted pick. I can only imagine what it will sound like when the Knicks Lithuanian draftee, no I'm not gonna try to spell it, starts slowly.
JP takes over a mess, brings recruits along from the old school to help restock, gets one recruiting class of his own then sits through an injury plagued season and now he can't coach a winner and can't recruit quality players.
I know that last year was no fun at all but I don't think that that makes it time for a feeding frenzy.

I still believe SF is still a Siena fan, just tired of watching them lose and/or doesn't care for Jimmy. But also agree it's maybe time for a name change, don't mind if he stays as admin, Tony could use the help putting up with us.
