To each their own, but what a completely inappropriate thread and thread title. If someone wants to debate or allude to if there should be a shakeup on the staff, go ahead, but asking if all 3 assistant coaches should be canned? That seems a little over the top. Wow. Now, if you want to say Luke D'Alessio should be canned because of spotty recruiting and bad scouts, as well as the fact that his wife went on a tirade on the MAAC Board c. A few things- you don't decide whats appropriate and whats not on this board, if you read the original post careful the question was asked and personally I said I didn't think so. The question was asked to spark debate with lots of excellent answers on both sides of the coin, so it had the intended effect. Siena has had 5 straight years without a top 4 finish in MAAC- I realize Jimmy has only been here two years- but to many close to the program plenty of red flags with Jimmy and his staff. Many people have gone over them in this thread. As a long distance fan I realize you dont have a good feel for whats going on inside the Siena program - but that's fine that's what this board is for. As always thank you for your input BTW Luke's crazy wife registered and tried posting that crap on this board several times, I always deleted her and banned her-- after 4 or 5 unsuccessful attempts here she went to MAAC board

Whether or not this thread title is appropriate (and I would agree that the MAAC board is worse), I would probably caution all of us Siena fans not to let our program become like Fordham or St. Bonaventure where they constantly fire coaches and then scratch their heads wondering why the next guy wasn't any better than the last guy.

Who cares about truth or decency.................this is THE WEB anything goes true or false we have just slandered a number of people.
I hate to admit Albany is #1 now I see that the effort to repair our standing takes second place to mudslinging.
We can regain our elite status.......but lets do it the right way.
I am not saying TONY is right or wrong I don't know him at all.............but comments like Sienadan do not belong in this form.

My firm belief is that if either or both Nico and Fisher picked HM schools they would have been classified as 4 star recruits. Seeing they picked MM Siena the evaluators downgraded them to 3 star rating. And IS, Hewitt isn't coming here when he has that 7 mil from GT and another 3/4 mil from Mason in his bank account. We don't know a thing about how good or not good Evan Fisher is. You can't go by those ratings...good or bad. Rakeem Brookins was of the highest ranked kids we ever got and was supposed to be one of the best shooters Roman Catholic ever had. The kid shot 22% his 2nd year and couldn't handle PG. There are some things to like about this kid. I like that he's improved his jumper and he seems aggressive. But playing in HS and playing in D1 are completely different. He doesn't have the athleticism of a WB or anything. He looks more like a Bisping who doesn't make FTs as well. We shouldn't anoint him a stud before he's played a game. And I really love Clareth, but same goes for him. You just don't know how a kid is gonna shoot and take care of the ball at this level. There are so many factors. Calling these guys 4 star recruits before they've played a single game is a bit much. Last year people loved WB, including me, and now all of a sudden he's no good. I think people are forgetting about him prematurely. He is the most athletic big we got and shot threes at 45%. He had 21 steals and 14 blocks in under 400 minutes. Kid was just a frosh. Remember what Bisping and JO did when they were frosh? Give that kid time. He has big, big potential. Who said WB was no good? I personally think he's going to have a great career at Siena and will make a jump starting next season. People need to be patient. I can't think of a single player over 6'7 in Siena history that has come in and been an impact player as a freshman At this level, big men usually need a season or two to develop. That's why they are playing in the MAAC instead of at Kentucky. Perhaps the best big Siena ever had, Ryan Rossiter, did diddly-squat as a freshman. WB has a rare combination of athleticism and shooting ability we don't often see at this level. He's going to break out soon. As for Fisher and Clareth, it's absurd to anoint them as anything special just yet. That said, from watching game footage of them they past the eye test of possessing some intangibles this program hasn't seen in awhile. I like the chances of them being above average players at Siena. Wormley may just end up being the sleeper of the group because I have a feeling he may be a lot better than what we think we're getting. The biggest question mark is LaRose. He has some eye-popping stats in H.S. - but against shit competition. At least the other 3 played regularly against the best talent. LaRose may have the biggest struggle adjusting to the speed, strength and size of div. 1 players. His numbers weren't anywhere near as impressive once he hit the AAU circuit and played against some real talent. But the three point line is the same distance no matter who you play against and he hits those effortlessly. So there's hope for the future. This class on paper has more potential than any other since Patsos arrived. And there's still a 5th member of this class yet to be named. Can't wait to see what rabbit Patsos pulls out of his hat with that last spot.

Thanks, SF. I would love to see Craig come back for the NY/NJ connection. Not feeling the Ruland thing.

How about you take a serious look at your vetting and hiring practices/process. If youre swinging and missing that many times there's a reason.

I think we all agree Craig was a great guy and sometimes we tend to want to keep those guys around, I rather have a prick who can recruit

No need to rehash losers, plenty of new blood available. Do the work find the right guy. I'm all for a shake up just don't think you need to clean house.

Patsos' job is on the line with irregardless of what he decides to do next season with his coaching staff ... Third year will be either a charm or a strike-out ... He'll be around another year if he finishes in top 4 ... Don't think he'll be judged by recruits - just wins or losses ... But middle of the MAAC finishes will not fill the TUC nor increase season tickets and donations

I agree. I've always said that a program should not fire their head coach unless they absolutely have to. Of course there are exceptions but it can be a bad decision. Boston College fired Al Skinner and replaced him with a worse coach. Georgia Tech fired Paul Hewitt and his successor was worse. Va Tech fired Seth Greenberg and replaced him with a horrible coach. Siena has really never been in a position to make a "tough" decision - every coach we've had ever has either been very good to outstanding or horrible (Lanier had good moments early on but fell apart, Orr only stayed one year). Speaking of Lanier - think assistants aren't important? When Rob Jackson and Steve Seymour left the root caved in on Lanier. But this is a discussions about the assistants job not the HC. I think Jimmy should shake up the staff but it is his staff so he has to be comfortable with who he hires. Knicksaint posted it that coach Jacques changed her staff and the women are enjoying their best season. I don't think that is a coincidence - though it can't be proven obviously. I think a similar move to branch out with another more experienced voice could really help Jimmy and the program out.
