I agree with Tony. The crowd was fantastic in the 2nd half. Also there were a lot of Siena students in the crowd my daughter being 1 of them. She sat with us because they can't sit behind the basket during break. There was no attempt by the previous coach to connect with the students. From Day 1 Jimmy Patsos has completely changed that and has made it fun again for the students.

See, silly rules like that (no student tickets during break, not allowed in usual seats) need some serious change. I totally agree that Jimmy is and will continue to engage the student fan base during his tenure here and things will change. Also, for the first time since I can remember one of the large kids groups in attendance last night came down to the locker room post game to meet players. So....you see, the staff is not only reaching out to current students, but to future students as well. I have said for a very long time that an planned autograph session for 1/2 hour after select games could go a LONG way in the inexpensive way to build the future fan base department.

Wish we could start some mass fan action, like standing until the first hoop of each half, that would get everyone involved and literally on their feet and hopefully it would carry over. Some will say that's copying the Orange fans schtick but so what, many schools do very similar things. Last night it was hard to find anything to cheer about in the first half but when a glimmer of hope was seen everyone responded big time.

I heard a report that Rob Poole got over his illness, but I have my doubts because he had a SICK game last night.
Career high, shot over 50% from the field, and defended the other team's premier scorer to great effect. That's the second game in a row Robbie's minimized the opponent's scorer. I saw someone on Twitter call him The Lifeguard. A few more outings like that and he'll have earned it!
I agree with most about the crowd being reactive vs. proactive, but I don't see that changing any time soon. Two things seem to get the crowd going - a good play or series of plays from Siena, or a terrible call from the officials. I'm thankful that at least the crowd DOES react, no matter how it got there the atmosphere in the 2nd half was boisterous, energetic, and you can tell that both Patsos and the players are appreciative of the support.

Maybe start a new thread to keep talking about this and other ideas? I'd do stuff like this, but I don't wanna be the only jackass trying to start chants and whatever.

I would love it. With all the cheer teams, dance squads, and the paid support staff at the game, Siena has the infrastructure and capacity to get something going. They just need to be more organized and get the fans involved. Gold Rush is always fun, but they need to stir the fans up and get them going. Dead Zone always helped, but we need to better for that to be effective. Maybe they should bring htta guy back that looked like Snoop Dog.

Animal House and TBagzz used to bring a megaphone for the dead zone chant, but that has been dead since Lanier's last season killed it.

Animal House and TBagzz used to bring a megaphone for the dead zone chant, but that has been dead since Lanier's last season killed it. and it worked on so many levels.................we were able to get individual DEAD signs to pass out to numerous fan sections as well as the individual team victim signs which we had beaten, it was orchestrated almost perfectly without practicing at any time.............it morphed into it's own beast, not to mention the start of each game was significantly delayed until that cheer was completed..............many a times the opposing team was in their pre-game huddle and rather than paying attention to last minute instructions from their coach they would turn around and gaze in disbelief as to what the crowd/group was doing.........it at the very least made the TUC feel at the time, like a true college atmosphere, which up to this point has never been duplicated...............hoping someday ESPN does a 30 for 30 small video piece on it, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
