So much for being civil. We aren't even waiting until after the first game this year I guess. AS already pinching some preseason nerves.

So long as the discussion remains civil.... Just pointing out the fact that he turned an innocent little thread about Martens and the frontcourt into THE DISCUSSION.

three reasons to ignore the guards mitch was delt. 1-he was associate head coach. of anyone on the planet outside of fran, mitch should have known what was needed and what wasnt. 2-three years have passed 3-guards are easy to come by at the maac level. moreso than bigs. this should have been addressed long before today. by your own admission it is mitchs team. its now or never. that is until we blame the year's results on fran 5 months from now. 1) yeah because Fran wasn't a control freak and made every decision. I won't go over the Kyle Griffin "donation" scholarship again. 2) 2 seasons have passed. 3)Rahk and Trenity have have both missed more than half their games here because of injury, but definitely show promise. In Mitchs first real recruiting class, he got a star in Hymes, Poole is real solid and the best prospect (Beard) missed his Mommy, and left. All 3 CAN REALLY PLAY. I'm hoping, like I know you are (lol) that Audu and Oliver are also perimeter kids that can contribute this year. Fran has been out of this equation for a season now. He was chastized during Mitchs 1st year, because he left the cupboard pretty bare. Mitch has his first 2 recruiting classes in now, let's see what happens. Problem with haters is your mind is already made up regardless of the lack of talent here in 2010, or all the injuries in 2011.

Brookins will struggle to remain healthy at this level. 150 lbs and guys like Moore are the exception at remaining healthy. I expect little from Burdine. Who knows what to expect from Martens. All three could be right back on the DL. I guess mitch has a built in excuse should that happen.
Poole is going to be a solid maac level player. I dont expect, when a stronger schedule presents itself, great results. Im hoping a guy like Oliver can remain healthy. One would hope that one of Audu/Oliver will pan out by year's end.
I dont see Hymes as a star. He is solid against a weak schedule. When Siena plays up, its going to be tough. He shot a little over 25% (28% from 3) in the few tougher games that Siena played last year. Maybe that will change with more help at the two/three and he wont feel he has to force it as much

Lets let this play out boys..no sense arguing over something that hasn't happened yet .. besides the tired argument over what Fran left.. Fran has been gone 3 years..Mitch is on his own and the time for him to win is now..nuff said!!

Hymes had one of the best freshmen season in Siena history. I think you are looking to be negative, with all due respect. I expect a big year from him. He is small but has rare speed and is crafty with the ball. We got a steal with him - a player that slipped through the cracks. I expect his three-point to improve this season.

Last years rash of injuries had nothing to do with Fran. He's been gone 2 seasons now, and I could care less what he, or Iowa is doing.

All three could be right back on the DL. I guess mitch has a built in excuse should that happen. Guys like Moore? What about Brown and Bennerman? They played over 120 games I bet. It's all luck with health. Now Brookins has a back issue. I'm concerned too. Burdine could be the key to this team. IF he's 100% he'll make a difference. He can play, and is an older, experienced guy that this team needs. And I'm curious what you'd do if any of these guys do get hurt again. Should Mitch pull ther scholarships? Bring in some new guys? Treat it like a professional team? ps--I'm hoping the shooting percentages of both Poole and Hymes will go up with decresed playing time. Playing 40min a night can't be good for a 150 lb freshmans percentages. Shooters need legs.

Albanysaint- Please stop. If Siena is good, Mitch sticks, if not he doesn't. Your bashing of every player adds nothing.

Rak, Rob, OD, Davis and Ryan! FOB by position Imoh, Tren, Brett, Lionel, Chris, Rich. Marcus, Stephen. Evan will sit until Fri. Chris will surprise a lot of folks as should Marcus. Kids need to play someone other than their teammates and they need to play in front of their fans.

yeah, he went from a 10 and 7 guy (as a sophomore) behind Rossiter to a 15 and 12 guy as the lone option. coaching? hardly. Other than the call to make sure OD touches the ball every time down the floor for 37 minutes a game. Regarding guards, three years later and we are starting one of the smallest back courts in all division 1. credit to - coaching. How many more years do you get to blame fran? two? three, four? The rest of mitch's career? Heck why not blame fran for mitch's days at fairfield as well _____________________________
