I streamed the game, I am sorry to say I just couldn’t bring myself to go last night & judging by the picture posted in this thread I guess I wasn’t alone.
I agree the kids played hard, BUT this program is still agonizing to watch. It’s not the players fault but this is NOT D1 basketball. This roster would struggle in D2.
For two consecutive years Carm’s had players quit on him; last year McCollum and this year Eley and Durogordon. That’s not good!
I just don’t see how Siena can let this continue, an empty building like last night isn’t impoving next season with Carm at the helm.
Last nights loss was another Carm cluster F coaching job, & his player rotations are mind boggling at times.

1,500 is probably a good guess. None of the ten center court sections was even 50% full. Gio was worked on for cramps but was on the bench, not being worked on, for about two minutes of game time (from about 4:00 to about 2:00) before Carm finally heard me and put him back in. Tonight was the three month anniversary of our last home win. And it’s likely to be another eight months and change before we get our next one. President Chuck needs to clean house in the area of athletics. Except women’s hoops, I like what Jim has going there and if he keeps them together and gets Baby and Posson back next year it could be special

Last year I used to get upset by bad plays and the losses at the end of the year were inexcusable. This year I sit quietly expecting the loss. Last night when Siena was up by 13 I didn’t have the feeling a victory was on the horizon and just like that the lead is gone and another check mark in the loss column. Up until last night I was sure Carm had another year but now I’m really not sure. Either way it’s a shame what’s happened to a once proud program, It can only be compounded if we find that the admInistration is letting the program die on the vine. Time will certainly tell.

Monte blocked the first three shots from 7'4" Marist star Rip Smits during a home game at the ARC when both were seniors. One of my biggest Siena thrills.

The only way Carm is gone is if he resigns to get a 9-5 job to have more time with the family. This season can’t have been enjoyable for him and being a head coach in this era isn’t going to get any better. So maybe it isn’t out of the question, but tough to leave that much cash on the table.

I spoke to a good friend at the game last night. He has a former colleague who is a former Siena player and a program insider. He said Carm is definitely coming back next year and will be given a chance to turn the program around. UGH! Not the news I wanted to hear. Carm has to go!

We’ll see who’s right but Harwood is right something is going on. It has gotten so toxic and so many want a change (in the front office and boosters) I don’t think Carm is going to survive this. He might have been coming back a month ago but a lot has changed. I don’t think they thought it was going to get this bad with players basically quitting on the team. They might term it a resignation/mutual parting so he can save face while he collects the money owed to him.

Manhattan had no answer for Gio all night, yet Carm pulls him at the under 4 TV timeout? WHY? He got back in with with 2 min to go, and he scored 3 times! They couldnt stop him!! Gallagher should be giving Carm some credit in the postgame. Gio missing those 2 offensive trips, during one possession game, between 3:40 and 2:22 ended up killing us. no doubt, what the heck was Carm thinking or wasn't thinking that is...................AND the last possession for us because of Gio's effectiveness against the Jaspers........the ball HAD TO, HAD TO, HAD TO go to Gio and he could either try to put up a shot (and perhaps get fouled) or more than likely a double team on him would occur and he could kick to open player for a shot.......ridiculous basketball 101 for any competent coach...........now I am not saying that results in the desired result but it was the right play 100% of the time...........

and I would like to add something here, that probably isn't very popular but it's going out here anyway..............there is absolutely no reason that we should all go overboard for mentioning the team and/or players are "playing hard"................I mean come on, that is what EVERY player is supposed to do the moment they either step on the court for a game or even in practice.....that includes everyone from the top players right through the last man on the roster........once your name is called, you better give everything you have, it's your job and the one thing any player can "control", simply translates to the effort put forth.......should someone not buy into playing hard with full effort, well why should they get many minutes and that goes for any competitive sport (and I understand some terrifically talented players look like they are on cruise control because their ability oozes thus making it seem things just come easy to them), but in general players always have to be busting it non-stop when called upon.............just don't feel there is anything that needs to be said about effort when talking about how games went, because that effort has to be there every game.........imho

Carm keeps saying playing hard for 40 minutes. But it’s more than that —it’s about talent. Even the last two years (15-14 and 17-15) it seems like Carm just wanted to try and win games by just playing harder. I’m sick of the lack of talent that’s the #1 reason BY FAR we haven’t danced in 14 years and only won the regular season once. Of course that year we had TALENT (Pickett, Carey, Burns, Camper, King)

It is simple, Carm goes after this year and a lot of fans come back to support the new coach. Or Carm comes back and any fan that has options seeks them. The Siena administration will have signaled to the casual fans that they would rather save a buck than field a competitive basketball team. If they fire Carm after another down year then they might get a few of them back. Biggest wild card in it all is Albany, if they were to turnaround their program quicker than Siena that could draw away a lot of casual fans. If such a turnaround were to coincide with a move to the CAA in basketball then even more would jump ship. Lot of dynamics in place and ultimately Siena controls the most important one and will have to live with the consequences of a wrong decision.

A few things... a) I want Carm gone. The things he's said over the last year are disqualifiers. Sure we were down 3 real starters and nobody in the league wins in that situation, BUT - maybe we pull this out if Carm didn't mail it in on recruiting. b) Gio played the entire first half and a good chunk of the 2nd. He's 6'11" 260#...he's not a 5'11" PG. The dude was a hero last night. c) Gribben, Tekin and Courtney are D1 players...just not starters. They needed to be backup players for a few years and given time to develop. Additionally, Courtney could be an asset but he's not a great PG. He's had to be the leader of the team as a freshman. It's simply asking too much of the kid. He's still scoring double digits. We've had worse at point.
I really hope they do the right thing. Carm will be full of excuses but he owns this (he said so himself, right). 4 wins - by an average of what, 2 baskets?!!? 5+ 20-pt losses, a few 30+ pt losses. If D'Arg and company let this stand they get what's coming to them.

But as a defender on a team where the coach stubbornly insists on playing man to man he is a huge negative. Even in zone he is going to be one of your weaker defenders due to his lack of quickness. As a walk-on we should be absolutely thrilled to have such an asset. If he's given a scholarship though, then all criticism is fair game.
