Sour grapes. Despite our worst year ever in Div. 1, we still took UMass to the wire. I agree. Other posters thankfully are defending Siena and its great basketball history,

A lot of posters live in the moment- and let’s face it the last 3 years have not been kind to Siena. When you look at total package at Siena( which many posters will) then Siena is fine. But no conference is anxious to add teams coming off a 300 RPI year. And to tell you the truth I see where they are coming from. Siena is not the sexy pick. We do have a much larger “upside” then some of the programs some fans like to name lucky for us serious basketball people can look past the last few years. Siena needs to make a good hire and right the ship and that talk will dissipate or disappear totally. The ball is in Siena’s court- we need a good hire

LastMinuteman has a short memory. Dayton's record the three seasons prior to joining the A10 was 4-26, 6-21, 7-20 and they hadn't had a winning season in six years prior. They were in far worse shape than Siena as a program. I doubt any A-10 fans regret Dayton's admission to the league, and now they are being considered for the Big East. Some of these people need to look at the big picture.

With the departures or likely departures of Butler, Xavier and Dayton, our Siena Saints would immediately be one of the top 3 programs in the A-10 in terms of attendance/fan support/ buzz---especially once a new coach rebuilds us into a solid on-court program. No question we'd be a plus to the A-10 once our internal shakeout kicks in.

I have been a nay sayer in the past with regards to the A-10, but feel that we would be a good fit for them at this point given the new landscape of college hoops. I sure hope they think so too!!!

@jonrothstein Siena has always been a good job. It will become a great job if they jump to the A 10. Tremendous support, great arena + tradition.

Here are the contents of an email I got from FR Kevin last night:
Regarding conference re-alignment. It is a very fluid situation. Siena has been a solid member of the MAAC and the MAAC has been good for Siena. However, as you know - I believe that we have to listen to possibilities that may come our way from other conferences. If they emerge our posture will be to listen and then evaluate our options.

PJ - that's a far cry from the "happy with where we are" and "we want to be the best MAAC team we can be" days. No way Fr. Kevin even mentions those "options" if they weren't actually seriously on the table. Just my 2 cents.

Interesting that he used the plural rather than the singular is it not? Or maybe it was just a slip.
