Maybe D'Arg will do a straight up trade: Carm for him??? DArg is a huge problem, the guy is a dinosaur and pretty much the common denominator during our draught after Fran. You couldn’t make as many bad hires as he did if you tried intentionally. Intentionally, unintentionally. There's no difference with D'Arg.

Just wrote his own ticket!!! Blank check. Probably at Iona we’ll get to see him up close and personal😉 ln all actuality Tobin’s probably above the MAAC and no secret anymore. He deserves a payday, that’s a guy that paid his dues.

He’s out of Sienas reach now. More importantly he’s out of Iona’s. See ya Rick. Don’t be so happy Iona DOESNT blow hires. They’ll bring in a solid guy BANK on it.

I’d be shocked I think it’s all but done, I think all that’s left is the paperwork & an official announcement. Slicks not happy in a 1 bid league. He got his buyout renegotiated out of his contract earlier this year for a reason. Tobin is a possibility if Rick goes. Iona would also be an excellent stop for him , they’re a proven winner, with a great track record. Obviously Tobin to Iona wouldn’t be good for us. Funny time of the year I could also see a move where Cooley heads to GT and Tobin gets a crack at Providence. Rest assured whoever Iona hires it will be solid. One things for sure the geniuses @ Siena lack creativity and foresight. We could have hired Tobin a number of times. We could have hired Pitino. This program simply isn’t being run by people that know basketball. Until that changes we’ll continue to be marginal.

or within Iona they have those with strong ties to Grasso who of course was with Cluess before taking the Bryant job..........both he & Anderson interviewed when Pitino was hired.........they will do due diligence and have a short list for sure...........

Tobin would be a fool not to take advantage of all this publicity and jump at the biggest opportunity. No offense to Iona, but he could do better...and bigger. I just hope his old school loyalty doesnt get in the way of a move he needs to make while the iron is hot.

He was in talks with other schools during the tournament run and even had a conversation with a MAAC school on the day between NCAA games. He is ready to strike while the iron is hot

Do the FDU fans get as upset as the Iona fans are with Pitino? lol I get its a business, and I wouldnt fault him for taking advantage of a huge NCAA tourney upset. BUT, I do feel for those FDU fans.

Absolutely, I’m not saying you are wrong. I agree that he should be loyal to the program that gives you a start. Unfortunately that is not how college sports functions these days. I don’t by any means think Tobin is a bad guy. I think he is a guy who thinks at minimum he can triple his salary, and if he were at Iona or Manhattan, he could stay in the Rockland County home he never sold. His wife still teaches in Rockland County, and his kids were very open about the fact they did not want to move. Tobin is very tied to the area. Was even tweeting congratulations to Tappan Zee when they won the state title this weekend. I know for a fact there were discussions with Iona in the past few days, that even got to a $ amount. Not saying it is a 100% done deal, but I would be very surprised if he isn’t the next head coach of Iona.

The NEC is a disaster. A program (St. Francis Brooklyn) just discontinued their entire athletic department. Give FDU credit but Purdue maybe played the worst game for a 1 seed against a 16 seed in NCAA tournament history. When UMBC beat UVA they just made every shot. Tobin should absolutely look to get out. As far as Siena/Tobin goes maybe they could have hired him when Patsos was fired. He wasn’t going to get it when Mitch got fired because he was on the staff. When JC left Carm was getting the job they just didn’t expect it to be that quick. Not giving up on Carm. He has his issues he’s also been incredibly unlucky with CV and Pitino. Siena needs to get back to the NCAAs now.

To Sienafan1480, no doubt he should do what his best for him, but how do you know he spoke to others institution’s while the tournament was going on. are you representing him as an agent?

I have been a high school coach in this area for over 20 years. I know some people very close to Tobin, and am also friends with a coach on his staff. This comes from very reliable people. I also know people from Iona that are involved in this situation. The interest is definitely mutual. If it doesn’t work out, it would be because Iona shorts him on his assistant coach budgets, which he wasn’t happy about in their initial discussion. But I’m sure they will come around, and a salary in the 600k range would triple his salary.
