I like UConn to win this game. Iona’s last loss was to Siena in January 27th and I think Pitino’s Iona career ends in Albany.
Albany got some really good games and potentially good games in the Round of 32.
(5) Miami vs (12) Drake- 7:25 (TBS) (4) Indiana vs (13) Kent St - 9:55pm (TBS)
(5) St. Mary’s vs (12) VCU - 2pm (TBS) (4) UConn vs (13) Iona - 4:30pm (TBS)

this is a fantastic bracket............two sets of 4-5 seeds, cha ching................and here are some story lines.
Indiana - blue blood storied program, they have Davis who will be a 1st rd NBA draft pick, coach is Mike Woodson played & coached for the Knicks so NY connection Kent St - from the MAC, those teams always are tough outs and typically win games in the big dance Miami - coached by Jim Larranaga a HOF coach, and a native NYer from the Bronx Drake - has ex-Siena PG is Roman Penn UConn - potential final 4 team, with hometown Andre Jackson from Albany Academy starting Iona - led by Pitino, and gets to play in a building where historically Iona has had tons of success Saint Mary's - also the Gaeis, has frosh standout PG Mahaney, they beat up Gonzaga once this season VCU - still has an athletic bunch that uses the Havoc defense installed by Shaka Smart, coached by Mike Rhoades a one time candidate for Siena job

Great card, I’m psyched.
Lamo Iona gets a home game.
Now we get to see what Rick would have looked like with a full Pearl St arena pulling for him.

I wish we didn't have Iona in the Albany. bracket. It gives me a reason to root for UConn, a team I detest since the days of arrogant Jim Calhoun. I also wish we'd have gotten a #1 seed, just like 1995 when we didn't have a #1 either. Otherwise some attractive teams that will be fun to watch.

I'm betting no teams brings too many fans. MVP was likely sold out months ago.

They were GREAT that year. yes, with Calipari & Marcus Camby, they beat Saint Peters with Ted Fiore and Mike Frensley (ponytail).........but UMass did lose the East regional final later on to OK State............... SPC hung around...were within I think 5 with about 5 minutes left before UMASS pulled away. Big upset that day was 14 ODU led by Petey Sessoms (35 points) taking out 3 seeded Villanova (led by Kerry Kittles and Jason Lawson) in triple OT. If memory serves, Villanova had 2 or 3 chances to win on a last second shot, but couldn't get it done. Not in Albany, but on the same day, Weber St. took out Michigan St. (whom a lot of folks had in the Final 4). Also the first time I ever saw the Stanford Tree...Glorious! www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItGoz9Hzk8MFun day!
