OK, but what about the kids working just as hard that are coming away with nothing while watching their teammates get $1 million? Wouldn't it be more equitable to make sure everyone gets a piece of the pie with top guys earning more? Gets you ready for the real world. We need something to change the everybody gets a trophy mentality. Hopefully the guys making the money share the wealth with their teammates, it could build team chemistry. Also overpaid coaches could throw some money to the players from deals with shoe and apparel companies. LOL, sounds like you have a lot more in common with Tony and his "circle jerk conservatives" that you like to always PM me about when I call you a troll than you would like to admit. Funny thing is you pulled the wool so far over their eyes that you were able to use "free speech" to get them all to vote for you to stay. Maybe you can join in their next circle jerk about how the top guys should get everything and the lower guys should get nothing to get ready for the real world.

Syracuse businessman and booster just gave 13 SU athletes $1m in NIL deals. JG3 was one of six men's basketball players to get an agreement. So this essentially overrides any limit on the number of scholarships a school can give...cash can be given out instead to pay for tuition, room and board, etc. for as many good players as any school's supporters can afford.

Wait, this was for $75k each? Not $1 million each? BWAHAHAHAHA! That is chump change in the ACC, unless Syracuse can start ponying up $1 million for top players then they are almost as irrelevant as Siena for top dogs. This system needs to be reformed badly to save both the Syracuse's and the Siena's of the college game. But the NCAA may have already screwed this up too much to ever reign it in.

So is your path: 1) Free market, whatever teams and boosters want to spend is their own business 2) Set amounts that can be spent based on the average athletic budget by conference (basically an oligarchy) 3) Fair market, everyone gets the same amount to spend but that amount can be set high enough that lower schools will likely not get there (think MLB) 4) The NCAA pools all money from all sports together and then pays each athlete equally (socialism)

I’d go with Papi’s open market and Division 1 schools who don’t want to play in this sandbox be placed in Div 1A … players in Div 1A sign contract to agree to play basketball in exchange for a free college education and a monthly stipend (set nationally) … won’t stop portal but Div 1A championship would have a lock on the Cinderella teams. Although CBS won’t be happy.

For a long time, I have always thought players should get stipends for spending money, travel, etc. But I think the direction we are heading in now will hurt most schools who don't have unlimited boosters. What rules are still in place? Can I assume players can have agents who pay them now or is that still taboo?

Same booster working on seven figure deal with recruit Boogie Fland and his family to attend SU.

Boeheim quoted as saying, “College basketball is a mess. Pittsburgh, Wake Forest and Miami bought their teams with NIL Money.” He retracted the statement half hour later! Lol. Sort of like unringing that bell huh JB!
