And you know this how? Let's say it was the reason. It still was a wrong one given what we now know about this radical organization. It should be reconsidered. I believe it was in a TU/Gazette article back when the teams were playing in the ARC with no fans during COVID and the team came out in those warm up unis with that phrases on them. Coach said it was a team/players decision. That’s when some season ticket holders/donors got offended and bailed on the team. Carm simply supported the players decisions which then may have lead to his trying to do more and join/promote the thing he’s in now. Correct. Players' decision - as was Stormo's and Golson's decision to take a knee with multiple Monmouth players during the nation anthem before their game. So those suggesting Carm orchestrated it can retract that now. dailygazette.com/2021/01/03/siena-mens-basketballs-warmup-shirts-ask-am-i-next/

I prefer those sorts of “individuals” to not be affiliated with Siena basketball in any way.

I’m a donor but I don’t let my personal beliefs, politics, opinions get in the way of supporting my favorite team. I’m not saying I’m better or worse than anyone else; just stating what I do. IMO, the Siena basketball program is bigger than any one player coach, administrator, college president, etc.. if one or more of those people do something I diss agree with I’m not going to harm the thousands of other petiole tied (past/present) to that program. JMO I didn’t stop being a Vikings fans just because some people disagreed with the way one running back disciplined their kid, why would I stop supporting Siena because one or a few had differing opinions/views than me?

I hate to see fans back away from a team because of political views especially when I believe their perceived offense is based on misinformation in my opinion. People are free to express their displeasure but a Franciscan institution is certainly not going to change their position on a legitimate social justice issue no matter how much support they lose, nor should they. It’s a shame to lose fans but if that’s the way it is so be it.

How are the two related? More majors means we have a chance to grab a more diverse group of players regardless of background. W need more majors to attract more talent

I agree. The original post was worded in such away that it didn’t convey any message related to benefiting the basketball program but it was a rather lame attempt to stir the pot. That’s the exact type of post that causes hijacking in most threads here. Can we stick to basketball, or if you something informative to add please leave political leanings out of it or go to the smack page. That way those of us who are sick of the bull$hit don’t have to be bothered.

The last few pages of this thread do, IMO, belong on the smack board as my post was a tongue-in-cheek response to the posters that had issue with Carm supporting BLM, as anyone against BLM is clearly NOT Interested in social justice. This should all be moved to the smack board, starting with the anti-BLM post.

We have a rule for the golf course - no politics - don't even start the discussion!!!!! Same here - we are all about Siena and Siena hoops. Leave political views at the door, please!

I'm just wondering when this thread gets back to the 2022-23 schedule?
