According to reports by NBC Len Robbins, Xavier and Butler will be joined in Big east next year by Dayton, in 2014-15 year St Louis and Creighton join them . That means by 2014 all the western A10 teams will be gone. A10 will be down to 10 teams with a few of those 10 shakey—so A10 will undoubtedly be looking to expand – here is Siena’s opening for sure- travel and lost class time wouldn’t be much different than current MAAC and level of competition ( even with lost teams) would be considerably better than MAAC

if invited- I don’t believe Siena would go to A10 until 2014-15 season- and that works fine for me- it allows Siena to give 2 year notice to MAAC, which considerably lowers exit fee and it allows new coach a full year of recruiting A10 quality players before joining conference

Those teams are good for a potential Siena move to the A-10, poor split E/W wise for the Big East.
St Johns, Seton Hall, Providence, Georgetown, Villanova true "East" teams.
Marquette, DePaul, Butler, St Louis, Creighton true "West" teams.
That leaves a split with Xavier and Dayton kind of in no mans land.

Going to be very expensive to go to A10- not only an exit fee to MAAC, but an entry fee to A10. This at a time the program is hemorrhaging money due to the program wrecker. I sure hope Fr kevin and Darg are up to the task, Sometimes you have to spend some money to make some money. Would you rather sit there with 5K for a game against St peters/Monmouth/Quinny/Rider or be there with 10K against VCU/Bonnies/ST Joes /LaSalle
Another big difference between the “socialist” like MAAC and the A10—in the a10 you get to keep 75% of your NCAA units every year while in the MAAC after 1st year all the money goes to conference

What is the exit fee for the MAAC and what is the entry fee for the A-10? one million if you leave in under a year..I think 500K if you give 2 year notice, A10 I think is 700K entry fee.. now in case your wondering Siena earned 5 NCAA units between 2008-210.. duplicate that in A10 and exit and entry fees would be paid off in 2 years ..if I had to guess Siena doesn't have the leadership to make move. You have to be able to spend some money to make some money. Hopefully I'm proven wrong, but I doubt it

I think the A10 might have a little higher entry fee now with their new TV deal...which I don't know how that will be affected with the possible departures with the power house A10 schools

But its still likely to be a pretty big nut

So how much did SIena get for Quinnipiac and Monmouth joining the MAAC, and for Loyola leaving [as he snickers]--- Siena needs to find a way to get out, or band with a few other high profile maac schools and join their own league Catholic 7 style.

From what I can glean from the MAAC President's Council minutes the buy in is 250K payable in five installments and a 100K upfront payment to go towards "ownership" of the MAAC office building. So with two new teams entering the MAAC gets 700K over time and who knows if the schools get any of it.
