All depends on how you’d like to define “big” Mike Baer is likely playing the 5. Jordan Kellier is a big ass dude. He might play some 5… if he buys into that. Just an early prognostication…. I think we’re small & don’t like the lack of true depth at the 4/5 spot. Sure we have guys that can “fill-in” by playing out of true position (maybe)… but personally I think it’ll come back to bite us at times throughout the season. The story told a million times is that Baer guarded Luka Garza in practice all the time. That would imply that he came here as a 5. Also, it all comes down to how you use matchups. If you’re smaller, with someone like Kellier at the 5, you need to be able exploit something in exchange for maybe giving up something defensively or on the glass. With Kellier, that’s his grab and go ability… rebound and push the break. Pick and pop ability. Pull the opposing big from the basket. Switch ball screens. Etc.
