Gotta give staff big-time credit here. Late last week we get mostly blindsided and lose our starting 2G, our guys immediately get to work, identified Hopkins as a target almost immediately, and landed him in less than a week. That's how you do it.

That's how you do it. Aside from losing the size, this might actually be a slight upgrade from Carey overall. His energy stats are slightly better and he's a more efficient distributor overall. He might be more of a PG than Carey was.

I guess you start day one is kinda hard to pass up. Good for Carm and good for Siena Basketball.

Heh, if you follow CBBCentral, he recommended him. Welcome to Siena, Nick Hopkins!

Pickett, Hopkins, Carpenter, Camper....nice all-around starting 1-4.
Mix the rest of the team around them. Gives Harris more time to develop his game.

This kid was just too perfect a replacement for Carey.
A business major grad transfer with good grades from a good, winning program with such similar production to Carey and he enters the transfer portal at the same time as Carey leaves.
Too good to pass up.
Kid looks quicker and more athletic than Carey with a lot of the same moves....he's just 5 inches shorter is all. But he might even be a slightly better player on both sides of the ball.

Hopefully Nick can help with that and gives Jalen a blow. Also while we need Aidan to be good right away this takes some pressure off him with signing a vet. I think Carm can go smaller now too. Jalen/Hopkins/Carpenter/Harris/Manny at times.

Can't believe how great this all worked out. Carm really rolls well with the punches. Hopkins being smaller/quicker is also a slight plus for me in MAAC play because there are so many of those small/quick guards across the league that can pose defensive match up issues for our larger guards. This broadens our defensive options and hopefully gives us another good on-ball defender to free up Jalen.

Career A/TO Comparison: Carey: 180/162 = 1.11 (1949 career minutes) Hopkins: 113/61 = 1.85 (1434 career minutes) Hopkins steal rate has also been slightly higher. It's possible we could pick up a TO over 2 per game in the TO margin differential just from this trade...even before whatever Carpenter can contribute in that regard. Also, Hopkins has grabbed just short of 1 more rebound per 40 mins in his career compared to Carey in spite of being so much shorter.
