So this investigation has been going on for the last two years and yet the college didn't think it was necessary to inform the community. What? They announced the internal investigation before they fired Patsos.

Will campers stats still be included in Siena's record books? I don't want to see any asterisks either.

Just think how bad things would have been if he didn’t cheat. The only reason this story is bad for Patsos is that his head coaching record is so bad that this would clinch it for someone thinking hiring him as a head coach. If he won a bunch of games, this is small potatoes and he easily gets another job. Why risk your program going .500 with rules violations Better off hiring a Pitino type, at least you might win violating the rules. Here's the thing - the cheating couldn't help win anyway. It was stupid stuff. Not like they were buying recruits. Siena self reported but it probably goes on at a lot of schools and they just let it go. Siena was honest and reported it to the NCAA (although one reason to report it was probably to get rid of 16) - maybe the basketball Gods will look kindly upon us this weekend! Nice. You twisted into, "everyone does it, but at least Siena has more morals than others and reported it". Nice.

They announced the internal investigation before they fired Patsos. Don't recall there was ever an announcement that there was a ncaa referral for potential violations.Did I miss something?

It will interesting to see how the new president handles D’arg with the release today. It sounds like John is going with I didn’t know this was going on for three years defense. Per the news conference Siena found out about stuff, investigated & hired a firm to assist in determining violations. "NCAA officials affirmed in their report that Siena took proper responsibility at every step during the investigation process," Siena Interim President Margaret Madden said in a statement. "As the NCAA public report outlines, we have already begun making significant improvements to our Athletics program and procedures to strengthen the college's dedication to transparency and strict compliance protocols." What more do you want them to do?

John made several hundred thousand dollars during those three years to lead the athletic program responsible for supervising Patsos and claims he didn’t know any of this or the other issues were going on is fine? He should have been announcing his retirement. Have to agree. The BB program is the only program of significance at the school. One would think that the AD would have it under a microscope at all times. That being said I wondered why the NCAA didn’t call for the AD head also. Perhaps John is retiring soon. Before posters swear us up and down John did a lot of good for the school, but his last years have been marred. I rather see him retire on a high note than be forced out. Admin will not look kindly on this. Basically John should have seen what was happening. One thing, Siena did the NCAA a favor, no one will probrably hire JP in the college BB area again. Man is toxic now, Dave, we all know you don’t like John because you remind all of us that you want him to retire or get fired all the time; but come on man - he and the school cooperated with NCAA and implemented new procedures/controls to try & prevent future occurrences. Didn't see it posted already, here's the D'arg presser. So many Siena fans try and pretend the Patsos era never happened...now they don't have to! Who is the reporter with the deep Darth Vader voice? Mark Singelais, Albany Times Union.

Once they announced the investigation, they won't say anything until it is concluded. That's just how this works. When their part was over, they had to turn their findings over to the NCAA, which is still part of the investigation.

Maybe now the Siena administration will do the right and retire the AD.GO SAINTS!! Why? He & the college fully cooperated. In fact, based on what they learned in the investigation plus the outside firm that assisted them they’ve come up with better procedures & controls to hopefully prevent future occurrences. Can you imagine all the parents who we’d have to fire and take away their children for poor parenting? There’s no hope for all those parents who are learning everyday how to better handle their children and now some want to punish them and fire them as parents.

If he did his job this all would have been completely unnecessary. Patsos has no one to blame but himself, he was more than well compensated for the little he did! As I said back when this was unfolding the administration has some culpability. They lacked checks and balances and let Patsos linger for far too long. That $hitshow should have never lasted 5 years. Can’t be happier that this is finally behind us, we have an excellent head-coach and staff who are pro-player, professional and of high character. Times have finally changed for the better! Hopefully this is the last chapter in far too long and bad book. Time to move on! +1

They announced the internal investigation before they fired Patsos. That’s how I read it, Siena started investigating before they fired him. That’s probably why they decided to fire him because of what they were learning.

What more do you want them to do? Dave I get it, you want him gone. Many of us did at one point, but now? When the coach picked under his watch got us on top? Now? When the program needs a little momentum? This is a fragile program, imo. It doesn’t need more adversity.

You might get called an imbecile like I will now (from our favorite Siena AD hater).
