Maybe the C7 is a big jump. But the A-10 schools budgets are only slightly larger than Siena. Pressure should be put on the Admin. to at least be " open " to joining- and should submit a statement to the Siena community telling us that...it's called showing respect to your fanbase. Fans should e-mail or call for that statement to be made ! Attachments:

I sent a very pleasant and supportive email yesterday. Maybe it will help, maybe it will hurt. I don't know but I focused squarely on the conference stuff and not on the current debacle.
Keep in mind that there is league politics (we still are in the MAAC until a deal is inked otherwise). The admins really aren't free to say whatever comes to mind. D'Arg can't just log into the message board and say "hey guys, don't tell anyone but we're looking at a move. Really, don't let anyone in the league office know or they might rush a vote on the exit fee thing."
And, if the exit fee thing isn't in place yet - you can bet the league WOULD rush a vote on it and we'd be out-voted. Wouldn't that just be a kick in the nuts. The takers would outvote the makers. Hmmm, that sounds familiar - where have I heard something like that?
If anything this is exactly why Siena should move. We have the same vote as SPC but we bring a boatload more to the table. Quinny and Monmouth will as well and they've done jack. Think about that. We draw (even on a crap season) double anyone else, we've brought in vastly more NCAA credits and we're all equal - if not despised and loathed by the rest of the league. Admins - if you're listening - keep that in mind!

I think if that happens siena would have grounds to sue.

I will even suggest that e-mails be directed to the A10.

I'm not positive but I would be very surprised if a buy out to leave the league could be enforceable with anything but an unanimous agreement.

There's a Maryland-ACC lawsuit working its way through the courts right now that our legal eagles may want to look into. Maryland and Florida State voted against an increase in the ACC buyout, and then Maryland left shortly thereafter. The new exit fee took effect immediately. To what extent is the full amount enforceable?
That might be a slightly different question than in this situation, where there is apparently NO exit fee and one would be added.
In any case, there's a good chance of either a lawsuit or a settlement. But if an 11-member MAAC lost Siena, they could continue as a 10-member conference without any problems (or even a 9-member conference if Fairfield gets out too).

The new ACC exit fee is $50 million while Maryland's entire annual athletic budget is about $57.5 million. In comparison, we're talking about the potential for a $1 million exit fee (I don't think the MAAC is worth that much) against Siena's $11 million spent annually.

I was looking at the A10 blogs most have- Siena, VCU, George Mason, Detroit, Davidson, Mercy, and Fairfield as the favorites. And splitting the A10 into two divisions.
The A10 would have:
SOUTH 1. VCU 2. GW 3. George Mason 4. Lasalle 5. St Joes 6. Charlotte
NORTH 7. Fordham 8. Umass 9. Duquesne 10. St Bona 11. Rhode Island 12 Siena

I'd guess after George Mason Siena will next in line for a invite to A10..Not sure how much longer Umass will be in A10 as they are rumored to be going to football big east schools

Iona, Fairfield? Or move St. Joes to the North division and try and get Davidson into the south? Sooo many dominos and moving pieces. I think one thing is certain - the lower mid majors (MAAC, CAA, Southern) are going to be raided. Can you imagine if we stay in the MAAC and FF and/or Iona move out. Scary.
