Well as I have heard many times from the "Elite". This article was in a blog and should not be taken with the same weight as an article in the paper. Therefore as I am now empowered by those who think they are better than I to treat this article as if it were never written.
Good Day.

In all fairness guys, we are several rungs below the C7 schools on the basketball map. I know how I feel about Quinnipiac and Monmouth joining our league and the gap is much smaller between MAAC and NEC than it is C7 and MAAC. This is regardless of our current 6-bullshit record. That said I'd love the opportunity to play those guys every day. To give you a clue where our admin is look at D'Arg's comment about playing them occassionally vs every day. The admins definitely are concerned with getting abused daily...in all sports.

Well, whatever the level of reality the C7 is....it certainly raised the enthusiasm of Siena fans in this season of dispair. That someone in the basketball world recognises us as a formidible program should bring a little light to our era of darkness.

all i read was that Marquette was indicating several inaccuracies ... nothing about Siena in particular. "Marquette doesn't see Detroit, which was mentioned as a possibility, or Siena as part of its new league." Honestly, I'd be a lot more worried as a Detroit fan. Marquette will have almost absolute power in picking the western conference teams. When it comes to picking the last member of the eastern conference I would be far more concerned if this statement was coming from any of Georgetown, Villanova, St John's, Seton Hall, or Providence as they are going to have the say on who that last team will be. So it is just the same longshot it was before that statement by Marquette.

This is just some blogger - who cares. I didn't read John Feinstein's article as his opinion, he probably had a conversation with someone who is familiar with the situation. He isn't going to print rumors in the Washington Post that are his fantasy. I'm sure this is very early in the process and Siena was brought up in passing. It has sent everyone into a tizzy, especially a nasty reaction from people on the outside saying, "What???" Hey, I have a feeling they will be vetted by a smart group of people who aren't fans and we will be assessed on our merits and most importantly, the potential the program has. We have had success on our level, it's just insane to think this is happening when we have a disaster coach and 6 wins. Of course everyone is going to say this is a joke.

You guys are amazing. Even when faced with facts contrary to your wishes, you create your own reality. saintsfan: if all you read was that Marquette was indicating several inaccuracies and nothing about Siena in particular, then you clearly didn't read the whole thing. It cites a Marquette official stating "Marquette doesn't see Detroit, which was mentioned as a possibility, or Siena as part of its new league". How did you possibly miss that? nysaint: The writer is not just some blogger. He's a writer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and his blog is part of their site. His blog page is no different from the ones maintained by Siena's beat writers in the Times Union. According to your logic, what someone like Pete Iorizzo writes in an article is gospel, but if he writes the very same thing in his blog on the TU site, it's not credible. Your logic makes no sense. Face it guys, according to a school official Marquette does not want Siena in a league with them - and I doubt they are alone in that sentiment among the C7.

if by chance siena is picked up in this C7 conference, the timing would actually be perfect. coach on the bubble can be replaced with, now, a high profile coach. who wouldn't want to go up against these guys night in and night out. if there is tv revenue and full house attendance revenue etc., that along with the deep alumni pockets and the coaches that have been talked about to possibly replace coach B are now second tier guys. with the fan base, city of albany, the arena and great school as a backdrop, a good recruiter could get top tier players here. the only drawback would be the immediate # of schollies available next year. thoughts??

There are 13 scholarships available. Scholarships are not automatically renewable or guaranteed. The new staff will decide who to keep and fill the remainder.

A blog is not the same as an article, sorry. No quotes either. Many of you trying to compare siena to Marquette are forgetting that they want 12 members. How does siena stack up to the other expansion choices. The NCAA is watered down by too many teams. It has reached its saturation point. These are not the powerhouse leagues of the 80s. This league is attainable, and if invited I would hope siena finds a way to make it work.
