Kobe Knox, 6’4” SG out of Tampa Catholic was apparently offered today. He is the younger brother of Kevin Knox of the Knicks.. reportedly only 160 lbs., so he need the weight room, but he had 28 and 25 points in recent games vs. Huntington PPrep and Lakewood, hitting multiple 3’s in each. Knox is apparently a recent qualifier with offers from North Florida and UNC Greensboro and interest from Oklahoma State. At an event prior to the Iona game, Carm said that we are not recruiting against the MAAC but rather against the A10, theBig East and the level level Power 5 conferences. You have to love the approach. I like the talent level we are aiming for, but question the appeal of upstate NY winters to a kid from Florida or other southern states. I'd like to see the focus on northeast and maybe midwest, so being far from home and adjusting to winter weather is not a factor, like it may be for Gary Harris Jr.

kk.But aren't you among those who say," What we need are some 3pt.shooters." Well if we go after those who are great defenders, ball handler, and rebounders as well. We will end up with nada. Duke, Kentucky etc get those guys. The mid majors don't except with some luck like getting Jalen who was a sleeper. I don't believe that at all. I believe it's often an issue of identifying the talent and the coaches' perspective of need on the roster. I firmly believe that most coaches have poor roster vision...and that's at least half of their problem. Most coaches just struggle mightily with roster mgmt and aligning it with a defined vision and style of play. Pickett was more a case of coaches being stupid...and him falling into our lap. The fact is that Pickett's HS numbers were great. His City Rocks numbers were very good..and he was also solid in prep. He's here simply because nobody paid attention. There are plenty of players out there that others aren't paying attention to. The whole reason I like Carm is because I see a vision, a firm style, and I see the pursuit of players who fit that vision and style. I think that it will be more evident as things go on. Attack and Finish....to me ....is code for athletic versatility that allows you to consistently win the FT margin battle. 6-4+ athletic guards who can drive, draw fouls, and do multiple things on D that allow you to guard multiple positions with switching and staying ahead on D so you don't foul due to poor athleticism.... Carm is getting versatile athletes for a reason. This is it. We haven't had a coach that both tried to draw fouls AND not commit them since Fran. Mitch never committed fouls but never drew them. Jimmy drew them but committed just as many. JC never drew fouls nor committed them. Carm is the best combo of both...it's the #1 mark of a next level coach...and it comes largely because he learned under Fran and Cooley who had the same philosophy.

Yeah, I'm not overly enamored with him so far but we'll see.

Yeah, I'm not overly enamored with him so far but we'll see. He looks like he has the physical tools but the low FTr, not great shooting efficiency, and lack of defensive playmaking makes me think we might be able to do better.

It used to be that if a kid shot 33% from 3pt., 40- 45% from the field, and 75 to 80% from the free throw line he wad agreat recruit. It also seems that coaches don't want to develop kids anymore but want them to come in polished so all they have to do is move them like chess pieces. In my day a great coach was a great teacher. I think we've lost some of the teacher part.

A lot goes into recruiting- after all a kid that athletic that was a finished product, would be getting very high looks. The challenge at mid major level is to look at 16/17 year old kid and project his skill set to D1 level , the kids character work ethic etc all has to be factored in. Much more than just looking at some stats. Looks like he has high major athleticism, very quick off his feet. In the end I trust the staff's judgement if he is good enough for us

Some are being picky about a 6 5 athletic guard with a nice looking shot, quick release and a good handle. He’s a 247 sports 3 star ranked 30th in state of Florida & 80th best SG nationally. 👌
Knox looks like a player to me, he needs to physically mature at 6’ 4” or 5” 160#. He’s exactly what you want here, he prep’s and get’s stronger we have zero chance.

Lets see what else is out there too... staff has multiple irons in the fire.

Seems like a good plan B to me in case Tariq Silver or Brandon Murray don't pan out.

I guess the program has come a longer way than I thought. In my opinion, he's a pretty good plan A too at our level. Just sayin'.
